No, you need the cushion of air between the water and your eyes. That air has to be regulated by your nose when you dive b/c the air compresses at depth and expands when surfacing.

No, and I doubt there will, at least for a long time. Contact lenses make your eyes more sensitive to infection, and so does swiming without eye protection (specially in pools), so doing both things at the same time is way too risky. That's why you're told not to do it. Sorry!

i have been a contact lens wearer since 1994 and unfortunately there is no such kind .. its seems the water lubricates the lenses more so it pops/slides out so u cant wear it swimming much more when u snorkel or dive...

no, i am in the process of getting contacts and one of the first things they told me (after an hour of trying to get them in) was that they should not be used for swimming, and if they are you should wear goggles, if you lost a contact lens in a swimming pool the chances of finding it would be aproximately... who am i kidding, there would be no chance of finding a contact lens in a pool
