Or did I miss something? You don't hear about it all that much.

Naw ... you didn't miss anything. The UN wants you to conveniently forget the 1 million people it let get killed in Sudan ... so instead the UN squacks about Israel and Gaza to give itself an artificial feeling of relevance.

I would love to know that also!!!! A plan has been brought to the U.N. ,by America, and some other countries, but as they always do,...they do nothing!!!!!! And then when a country gets tired of waiting on them, tries something themselves all hell breaks loose......Then they start paying attention, and say they were just about to do something. While they wait,....men are dying, women are being raped, children stolen and made to leave families, and fight!!! And all these people spend their days in horrible refugee camps, starving, and homeless...their nights are spent in horror and fear!!!!! I'm sure,....no, I'm positive ,it's even worse than my fears can imagine,...and still the U.N. needs an invitation from the gov.'t?????????? Whats that all about? I have little faith that the United Nations is effective at all, or that it will even exist much longer!!! I would love to know exactly what the money America sends them is spent on...we send more money than any other country, but I wonder if we even know what it really accomplishes! Thanks for asking this question! It needs to keep getting asked until someone at the U.N. listens!!!
*********Did I just read the answer before mine right??????? Did he say that the U.S. runs the U.N???????? TOTALLY UNINFORMED!!!!!!!!!!!! Why do people just spit out answers without knowing what they are saying? All based on something that has nothing to do with the U.N. or the Sudan!!! Just based on hate, and no logic or fact to go with it!!!***********
Sorry,...I had to respond to that!!!!

The U.N. is a comic book tale! they have finished not something to help the human beings in Darfur and maximum likely under no circumstances will. How any u . s . a . can stand by employing and do not something is previous me. yet what do we anticipate the U.N. develop into stuck-up in a nutrition for income scandal with the former President Saddam Hussein of Iraq. This develop into nutrition that could want to wish to have lengthy previous to places which comprise Darfur as well as different areas!! no individual develop into ever charged in this count number. As to how someone or persons can lay their heads down at evening understanding that they have got coated their wallet with greed even as persons are literally death from starvation i will't fathom, rather the youngsters and the elderly. God is staring at you U.N.!!!

The United Nations is a worthless outfit, full of useless people,
Just think of all the good we could do around the World by
Getting rid of the UN and using the money wasted on them.

It's in the news but you have to look for it. They did vote to send peace keeping forces, but Sudan said, "no". Thus, there's a military force resolution or they will do nothing. Getting the members of the UN Security Council to agree on military force is like getting a nun to wear a g-string.

UN isn't doing anything about it because they Expect for the US to step in and do it for them and foot all the bill. as we have always done in the past.

then when some warlord or terrorist mucks it up they can sit back and say it's all America's fault and that we never should have gone in there and should have let them handle it.

The UN while a great Idea philosophically is a laughingstock failure in real life.
Kinda like Communism in that regard.

All I have to say to this is a quote from our good ole President......"Not on my watch!" That's what Bush wrote on the reports about Rwanda. He spouted lies about how it would never happen again. We didn't stand by and continue to let the Jews get killed in Europe, but never mind the blacks!
