Yes, so many people are in help of our need, whether they need a hug, smile, or just a couple dollars for a meal to a homeless person, and the list goes on.....

Story: One time I was at work and this dehydrated lady in 110 degree heat comes into our office. She looked dizzy and disoriented. I asked her what happened. She said her boyfriend dumped her in the middle of the street out of a car, and they were both from Washington! She didn't know Calif. at all.

I took time off work, gave her $10, and took her to a shelter. She talked to me when I took her in my car, but she refused to talk to anyone in the shelter there as I found out later. Hope she's o.k.

Sorry, people I wasn't bragging. Geez, didn't mean to sound that way. I am glad to hear these stories to see what others do.
THanks everyone. So beautiful to hear.

Yes but things like this you should keep to yourself. When you tell others, you gain reward here for sure, but you lose that reward in heaven.

My husband and I helped a guy out in Fort Worth who said he had sent his wife and daughter to Oklahoma on a plane and he was driving his car there from Houston and his car broke down. He was waiting for her to wire some money to him or something like that, but he was out of money and didn't have any food. He was dressed nicely and had no reason to not believe him. We went to Burger King and bought his lunch. Two weeks later we saw him in a completely different part of Ft. Worth doing the same act, with the hood up and everything! But the important thing is we obeyed God.

I like to help people on the street corners holding up the signs, "will work for food" by bringing them some fast food or giving them some groceries.

Yes.
And I'm not a Christian - I just think it's part of being human to help others in need.

And I should point out that I have been helped many times by strangers when I have been in need.
From giving directions to borrowing a phone to people stopping to change my tyre to kind words on the bus or train when I look upset (but was possibly just cranky)
Even a smile to brighten your day.

yes....once I was at a food center when an old lady weak with hunger came to me. Knowing she will not even be able to carry a plate of food on her own, I bought a bowl of hot porridge for her and could see thru her eyes how grateful she was.

Though the food cost me very little, I can't help to feel so much happier to have helped someone genuinely in need ...

Good for you for helping that woman. It's great to know that people care enough to go out of their way to help someone get on their feet.

It's very important to be of help to people. As you said, sometimes just a smile is all that is needed to give some encouragement. We never know what sadness is in the hearts of other people, and a smile can make the difference in helping them get on their way.

My bf and I were walking home from McDonald's and we had an extra double cheeseburger we were bringing back home to eat later. Someone came up to us asking for money for food and I gave him the cheeseburger. But, hours later I was overcome by severe stomach pain. Turns out I had appendicitis and needed surgery...hope nothing happened to the guy I gave the burger to.

I picked up an elderly couple when there car broke down. Took them to the dealer, about 15 minutes out of my way. They were so upset they forgot to even thank me. I know they were appreciative. Probably in their 80's and it was very hot outside.

Ye. And I have honored (Romans 13:7) our police people recently by paying for their meals (more than once) at a local restaurant without telling the police people I was doing it.
