I have cut my own hair for many years as well as cut hair for others too.
I can do a good job on my own hair except for the back by the neck line and there I have my husband trim it for me. I start cutting where I want it to be and he cuts across the back for me and then I take the clippers and finish the job myself.
If you really want to cut your own hair just remember that for the first time or two it may not turn out the best but if you don't give up it can work out for you.
It's something that takes determination and I was determined to do it myself and I still cut my own hair and am proud of it too.
Cutting ones own hair isn't for everyone but those who do and can do it right will enjoy doing it often and making changes too to the different styles also.
For tappering your hair around your face is something that you have to decide how you want to do it. I take tape and tape where I want to tapper my hair until I get used to it then after a few times I don't need to tape any more.

If you really think you can do it go ahead. I cut my own hair a few months ago and other than the back needing a little extra trimming it turned out pretty good. I can't really explain how I did it. Everyone who cuts their own hair does it differently. I don't know of a website either.
But....if you have or want bangs especially the side-swept bangs, go to a professional. Bangs are the easiest part to screw up. and you usually can't fix it since they are at the front.

Why cut your own hair when you are going to end up going in and having to pay for it to be corrected?
I'm a licensed hairstylist, have been at it for 9 years and wont even cut my own hair because it is extremely hard to get it even. It takes several mos. of training to learn to cut hair, not just reading directions and grabbing a pair of craft scissors and cutting.
Stylist of 9 yrs.

Honey the tip for cutting your hair at home is don't be nervous. I cut my hair all the time at home. If you want layers around your fave heres what you do ( trust me i have a talent for hair) with 2 fingers hold your hair up in a straight line infront of your fave then cut your hair like a triagle so like a sharp zig zag then your done! that how you layer i've asked hairstyled how you do and that how they do it. It works i always cut my hair and my moms. But if this is your first time cutting doon't exspect it to come out perfect it takes alot of practice. TRUST ME!! I had experiance. But if you always cut your hair at home then have at it. i hoped i helped. :-)

I'd suggust not cutting your own hair at all... most of the time people mess up cutting their own hair because its harder to see around to the back. Just go to a salon.

Oh my goodness, years ago, in an effort to save money, I undertook the same endeavor. I was so embarrassed when I had to go into the salon and explain what I had done. I had to explain that no mind altering substances had been used in association with this attempt, but then again, they did not charge me any more than normal.

i cut my own hair. Basically, try not to make any drastic changes. I cut it in a kind of sloping line..like right near face, it's kind of short, then gets longer until it gets to the back of my head, where it's straight. but don't make the slope that drastic.
