Would you ever murder someone? No? Great, neither would I. Would you ever rape someone? No? Great, neither would I. Would you ever tell anyone to murder or rape someone? No? Great, I wouldn't either. Isn't your heart filled with compassion when you see people suffering, and would you stop it if you had the power to do so? Yes? Great, moi aussi. Would you agree that most people are like us? Would you fear or even loathe the people who are not? Would you consider them to be evil?
Imagine you are completely perfect in every sense of the word. You can do anything you want to, and you know everything, too, because you are so tremendously perfect. You are also benevolent, because benevolence rocks. Only you exist, though, so you decide to share your life with other beings and start doing some good 'ol creating.

Great, right? Kinda. You give your creations flawed natures, even though you could have - and, being perfect, would have - done otherwise.

Really all this nonsense about sin makes no sense.

The first thing that someone should be considering is whether the idea of sin is actually real.

If God is supposed to be perfect how could She have made anything or anyone that wasn't perfect.
Think about it. The idea of sin assumes certain things about God that seem highly unlikely.

First it assumes a God who is too incompetent to organize a simple educational field excursion and figure out a way to get all of the students home safely.

How likely is this that God would not be smart enough to come up with a plan for our salvation that is going to work?

It also assumes that God must have created us imperfect if we are sinners.

One might assume that God would be able to create someone perfect each and every time if he chose to. Assuming God is capable of this, then it follows logically that we must be perfect creations if we are actually creations of this perfect God.

Unless of course you are saying that God chose to create us imperfect.

If God created us imperfect then anything that may go wrong is Gods fault, not ours. This seems a bit illogical at best so I think that we need to assume that What God creates would have to be perfect.

If this is the case and Gods creations are perfect, then nothing that we can do could change what God created perfect and make it imperfect unless we think that we are more powerful than God is.

How likely is it that we the creation could be more powerful than the creator. I personally find this idea somewhat amusing, and a bit absurd.

Religion tells us that God is perfect. If this is true then it could hardly be logically for Gods creations to be considered to be anything less than perfect.

If this is the case then Nothing that we can ever do could possibly change this perfection that God willed, unless we were so powerful that our choices could override and change the will of God.

How likely is that????

Think about it.

The idea of sin is simple nonsense; a lie made up about God by religion.

Are you wondering why God created yuck in the human nature. Perhaps we created God and attributed things to him that really aren't true. We want to know him so we make him seem like us. Maybe God is the big bang, with no more interest or control over future events - Just send the bowling ball down the lane and walk away. There are some religions that believe that there is no sin - only bad decisions. And there is no punishment - only consequences. You gotta wonder.

I would do the same thing. If I created something perfect, I would have simply re-created myself (over and over again)....how boring.

I would create differences in every creation, to ensure a variety of possibilities and interactions. Since I know everything, then I would also know that each creation has a part of me in it, and the perfection is there....it's just camouflaged during the imperfection of the human experience on earth. The spirit within is perfect, just like myself....but I am the only one who knows this for sure.

I have created the beings with "free will" and intelligence, so it is interesting for me to watch and enjoy their bantering with each other about who is more preferred by me (their creator). Of course I am the only who knows.....I love them all equally, for I created them in my spiritual image.

Hey Don. Ever heard of the Fall? That answers all your questions about perfection and imperfection. But I'm giving you thumbs up for hubris.

Your logic has no logic. If you wanted souls to be with you, it would be only by their willingness to be as you are. By the way, your talking about God Almighty and He is love in the purest form. True, He is flawless and perfect in every way, but he is also logical and loving. He would not wish others to be with Him because He made you do it, He would give you understanding and reasoning so you could love Him because you wanted to, not because He made you do it. There would be no satisfaction other than this way, His way.

I am not perfect and so I cannot answer your question. But I am confused about everything and am leaning more toward atheist. As for pride getting in the way of faith, I feel that the person who said that has more than their fair share of pride.

i don't feel loathe or hate for those who don't feel the compassion i do, i feel sorry for them because they do not understand the flaws of human nature.i would have done the same because living alone in the universe would have been lonely and it is man who is at faulty, because we lack the comprehension of human nature a comprehension without which we cannot co-exist in peace.

I came close to killing a guy in Texas who was raping my best friend. If I had done it, I wouldn't regret it. I have no problem with that. I would however have a problem with anyone who would do nothing! Oh yeah, give me a gun!

What fun would that be? It would be like having an ant colony where all the ants were perfectly behaved and never fought, killed each other or butchered their own food. How boring would that be? The great pet keeper likes to keep us guessing and is always givings stupid tests to perform to prove we still deserve to be fed. I wish he could give multiple choice tests occasionally.

You presume yourself to be God's counselor?

This is perhaps why you have not been given the gift of faith...nor the one of understanding.

Seek God in humility, and he will speak to you. But he opposes the proud.
