Why are parents getting on here, giving advice like they are experts, insulting other people and then when you try to respond to their insults, you see that they have their e-mail and instant messanger blocked? If you can dish out the insults to other people you should be willing to accept the backlash from that. That is why I don't block either one on my profile. If I have a negative comment to make to someone, I need to be mature enough to handle the comments that they make back to me.

I thought that the people answering questions in the religious and political section were brutal, but the parents on here are sometimes just hateful. No one is an expert on raising kids, you give your own personal advice, but why do people have to take the little bit of your life that you post on here and assume you are a bad parent or decide that you don't deserve kids.

I am not saying that these people may not have valid points, but when they make nasty comments they have to know that they are going to get people mad, and for that reason they should be willing to have a way for people to respond to them, and not try to hide behind their computers. Makes them look like they don't know what they are talking about or are getting their advice from somone else or out of a book.

I agree with you. I was very suprised to see how negative people are on both ends. I saw this as an opportunity to share some of my experineces as a parent and specialist in child development, hopefully to help others. I also expected to be able to learn from other people's answers. Yet I have found that I have to weed through vulgar or insulting questions/comments. I am not perfect and I do not have all the answers, but I try to be positive and fair in sharing information. I wish that the people who are negative would find something else to do with their time so I don't have to wast mine weeding through their comments. Thanks for pointing this out to others.

I think any parent who postes a question on here deserves a pat on the back . It is hard raising kids , and you are right no one has all the answers, I hope you are not discouraged by mean people on here bashing a mom just trying to get honest help, and to all of the mothers out there trying to make a difference Kudos to you! We all need a little help sometimes and Kids don't come with instructions they are all different and special and made for us, Please keep insults and mean comments to yourselves! This is aplace for helping not bashing! If thats all you have to do with your time Stay out! Good luck!

I don't think parents are the only ones that act like this If people need make comments that I believe are negative I firstly have to question if it is meant as a negative or if it is the way in which I interpert in to be negative Constrctive feedback is good for everyone and yes we do need to be mature to handle differences of opinions especially in a public space

Because of the anonimity. They wouldn't do it in person, but here, feel totally comfortable saying anything they feel. AS for the blocking, again...they can do this without backlash.
I do want to say one thing though, I don't feel it is JUST parents doing this. I believe I've come across many rude comments that were not generated by an adult.

I try not to be negative, but sometimes there is no other option. I agree with you though, and that is why my email isn't blocked- I can take (and have taken) some harsh comments for the things I have said, and I agree; you shouldn't dish it out if you can't take it. (I don't have instant messenger)

first of all, how do you know how old we all are? that's what's great about the cyber world, completely anonymity. and the last time i checked, freedom of speech was still one of our first amendment rights, so we can say whatever we want to. and it's not like we're experts, but you asked the question. i would listen to people that had experience in an area that i didn't. not everyone is going to agree with you and not everyone is going to be nice. that's just the way the world works.
