Yes, partly the trill of something going boom (think 4th of July displays) partly the excitement of being near something dangerous (think extreme sports, only much more so)

Initially they suck and then you get use to them. The part that sucks is the repercussion. Depending on how close you are it hurts. The rush is when you see stuff blow up.
