a better place...

I think every single person alive cares about something, it's what one cares about that worries me.
I have a similar question that I ponder sometimes:.........
What would happen if everyone got well and/or functional.
ex:addictions to drugs, or other activities that break down our
healthy happy lives,.violent relationships, or activities that come from the need to support the habits.?
I truly believe the economy would crash . I was trying to imagine how many jobs and careers were relative to peoples dysfunction and misfortune or illness. It almost seems as if we are set up to take the bait. Culture traps, like the bling bling trap for the ghetto and/or urban youth. It scares me that there are many more prisons then there are shelters. What are called correctional facilities have token programs just enough to get the grants and funding , for men and much less for women. They are more plentiful then shelters .or rehabs. and prisons are at times privately owned.....WTF!
I wonder what is it that people do care about?
Being Kind to one another? Are we? Really? Wanting nothing in return. I think some of us are, Some. But these things go unnoticed . Newspapers are full of atrocities. Good deeds are mentioned if it's extreme. But what about the day to day kindness, the small things that are really so much more genuine then the one huge thing. I think a person that is kind on a daily basis and remembers the small details or whatever are the true saints. It's those people that go unnoticed and taken for granted, the next time someone gives you a seat , holds a door, remembers to turn off a light , or bring your paper in out of the rain, tell you you dropped something, let you go in front of them at the grocery store etc. remembered your birthday, or your name. Remember to say thanks, remember to smile.
Kindness goes a long way...............

First of all let me tell you I'm glad that people like you still concerns of this kind of matters.
Have you seen the movie "Pay it Forward (Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt, Haley Joel Osment)". It's amazing how caring for others can change lives of so much people, I've read the answers that people gave to your question, and I respect their point of view, however I think that doing small things for others can make their day. It may be an utopia thinking about a world without bad feelings and bad people, however you never know when you're going to touch someones heart!

I heard a great man say once that if everyone in the world was rewarded for their great behavior there would be no need the law or government and everyone would be Christ like. Unfortunantly, some people just can't be good, this world will never be a good place. Someday...maybe

Boring. Everything would play out something like this:

Bob: Well, hello Sarah!
Sarah: Well, hello Bob!
Bob: Errrmmm.... Nice weather we're having, eh Katherine?
Katherine: Absolutely dandy, Bob! How is your son doing, Sarah!
Sarah: Wonderfully, Katherine!

Now, let us make this more exciting:

Bob: Well, hello Sarah!
Sarah: Well, hello Bob!
Bob: Errrmmm.... Nice weather we're having, eh Katherine?
Katherine: *punches Bob in face*

Now, that was fun, wasn't it? Well, that was very silly of me, but the point is, there cannot be good without evil! In a truly caring world, there would be no room for imporvement: we would no longer have to truly think, there would be no progress! Nothing would ever change!

I can't see why it would be dull or boring. We would still have problems, but we would just have more help dealing with them. It's not like everyone would walk around hugging everyone... that would be kinda creepy.

Dull - and we should be even more dull for not being able to recognise the quality of being cared.
