Oh, I wouldn't worry about them not knowiing how to cheat. Have you seen the questions in the Homework category? Kids are asking anyone in the world to do their work for them. Write me an essay. Tell me what happened in this book. Do my math. Look up this word for me.
I don't think teachers are to blame. Look to the kids and their parents, who don't care if the kids get a real education -- just that they pass (or get good grades, if the "standards" are a bit higher). No teacher ever prevented a child from learning. It's the kids and their parents who are more interested in outside activities and appearances than the true value of learning.

Why should U.S children learn how to be a master at cheating?
When they get out into the real world, they will have to know how accomplish things on their own. I will admit that the education that U.S elementry and highschool provide is lax compared to a college education, but teaching them how to get by easier will hurt the future more than it is hurt right now.
I personally think children needs more help with reading and writing. So many high school students couldn't even begin to write a 10 page research paper that makes sense. That is because of the reading level of children is very low.

Parents have to be active in their child's education. If a parent feels that their child isn't challenged then it is up to the parent to talk to the teacher, principal, or school board. It is also possible to challenge your child yourself, by being active in his/her life, doing activities together, playing games, making sure that the child has hobbies that will stimulate their intellect. Take children to zoos, museums, arboretums, and plays, also to the library and book stores. There is quite a bit a parent can do. It is not solely a teacher's responsibility to make sure that your child has an education.

No source, just my humble opinion. I believe our children are being challenged in only a few of our schools. Parents ( or I should say guardians) need to be very involved in choosing the school and in their children's daily work to make sure their children are doing all they can. School alone is not enough either. Visits to the library, museums and other local hands on learning experiences are necessary.

Teachers do play a major role in their students success but also the student has responsibilties for themselves. However those teachers who sit at their desk and pass put paper work to keep their studetns busy and don't live up to the name of "teacher" can't really expect much out of their students when they don't give out anythign themselves. Education is far better in other countries, stricter, uniforms highter standards for teachers.
