It is written in the Holy Bible that God speaks to us in different ways. Sometimes His voice is still & quiet, sometimes in the whirl wind. Sometimes His voice is like a trumpet (Revelation 1). You can see examples throughout the bible. In visions & dreams. In the Old Testament, God spoke to Israel the 10 commandments (Exodus 20). It scared the people too much. So God spoke to true Prophets of God in dreams & visions.

Gifts of Holy Spirit given to Christians includes prophetic gifts.

No one is crazy for hearing God. Sin has separated man from God, so sinful man cannot hear God. When one's relationship with God is restored, person can hear God. It takes opening spiritual ears.

People who think others are crazy because others hear from God, just haven't experienced it themselves. Because they wont listen to God, basically.

Of course, the devil speaks to peopl also. Cast down any doubt, lies, condemnation, etc... Replace wrong thought with God's Truth.

Your not crazy if God speakes to you.

This is the way the Catholic Church decided to handle people who were receiving divine revelation, many years ago.

It wanted people to be restricted to the nonsense that was put in the bible by the church. The judgmental punishing God was a very powerful control mechanism and they did not want people who were receiving messages from the unconditionally loving Real God to spread the truth they were receiving. So they came up with the idea that anything that came from any source other than the bible was the work of demons, or the person recieving these types of messages was simply crazy.

This was a powerful deterrent because at different times they went around killing people under the pretence that they were consorting with demons. Naturally this kept people who were receiving these revelations from telling anyone. This idea was then expanded to anything that was of a spiritual nature. This is where the idea originated.

As the different protestant sects Split with the church and branched off from each other they held on to this idea and it is still prevalent today. The idea that God cared enough to talk to every other goat herder and shepherd in the old days but has no interest in talking to any one now is simple nonsense created by this idea you are speaking of.

To assume that demons would ask us to be loving and take care of our fellow man is absurd. Yet this is the exact message that people who get these types of messages always report getting. In many ways the bible is more a vehicle for separating people and stirring up hate.

I've spoken to God and have received messages from God in various forms. I've never heard a BOOMING voice commanding me to do anything, nor have I heard whispers from the darkness giving me advice.

Generally messages from God are prophetic, and given to you through other mediums or people. For example, I was praying one night about a certain problem I was having in my life...at length. There wasn't any visible answer for me. I went to sleep. My alarm went off in the morning, but it wasn't the normal beeping noise. I had (for the first time ever in 35 years) set the alarm to go off with the radio instead of the buzzer. Well, the radio talk show host was just wrapping up their topic...which was something similar to what I had been praying about. It ended up being a good solid place for me to start. My prayer was answered through prophetic message. No voices from God.

UPDATE: THREE FAITHFUL PEOPLE WERE ANSWERING THIS QUESTION IN DETAIL AND WITH FAITH AND SINCERITY......AND WE WERE TYPING PRETTY MUCH THE SAME MESSAGE SIMULTANIOUSLY............IT WAS NOT OUR WORDS....IT WAS GOD SPEAKING THROUGH US.

NIA FLOWER.............wonderful answer and a sweet demeanor to go along with your wisdom! Wish I could email you and tell you so.

GAMBIT: YES!!!!!!! Nia Flower and JoJo are absolutely right. When you get confused because the people on here are giving you conflicting answers.......Turn to the WORD! The Bible says in clear words.........Seek and you shall find. If you want to hear God's voice, you will. Plain and simple! Prayer is when you speak to Him, MEDITATION is when He speaks to YOU. Here is a simple way to discern His voice from all others: When making a decision, the choice that gives you peace is God. If you feel aprehension or anxiety concerning something you are about to say or do........it is not God leading you. He will always give you peace. In love and light, Miss a Miracles

God speak to every one through the heart "soul" to actually know if it god, the words of God , will be of pure love, compassion, with wisdom and knowledge that will provide you with direction, Acceptance, Patience, Courage and Strengh to bring love and peace, direction, Acceptance, Patience, Courage and Strengh unconditionally to others you may meet along your journey. The problem is most people are chasing after wealth and worldly things and no longer seek God. and no longer hear god calling out to them, until the moment arrives in their life when darkness cover over them and beat them self down in a dark hole, and then God will provide them with a path to come out of the darkness and back into the light.

God speaks but typically not with an audible voice. If youre truly hearing voices, then you need to compare that to the truth of the Gospel. Either it is indeed God speaking to you, or mental illness, or a demon.

The act of prayer is not simply speaking, it is requesting something. God on the other hand does not ask anything of us so there is just dialog. Try just speaking with Him, you may get a lot farther.

God communicates in many different ways.

I felt God's presence intervene and come down on me at a job site eight years ago.
I was at a meeting fifty other employees in the cafe, my boss was very anger cause we all messed up on the assembly line and cost him some money. Everyone was scare to say anything, I felt compassion for him in my heart, and I raised my arm and said that I was one of them, so much happened at that very moment of truth and compassion, not only did everyone look at me in the room, shock, and I could read their minds as their expressions said it all, they all were thinking "your crazy, ur nuts, ur going to get fired. Also at that very moment I felt god's presence floating above me just to my left, and my body felt happy with a good feeling all around me, and I felt what he said in my head, "I am happy with you" and I knew it was God.
After the meeting my Boss came over and shook my hand, and said that it took a lot of courage for me to do that, especially when all were involved and no one stood up for me.
God and I were the only ones in that room that knew what really did happen:)
