In Argentina, many of the cars have two fuel sources, one of which is propane. We were wondering if this causes more or less pollution/damage to the environment than gasoline.

It depends what you mean by "pollute." Some of the pollution from gasoline comes because the gasoline in not completely burned, so the car exhaust can give off fragments of the gasoline. Gasoline is mainly C7H16 or C8H18 or equivalent. So you could get fragments that are shorter, say C4 or C5... but propane is C3H8. So it is more likely to be totally burned without giving off fragments. It probably burns almost completely to CO2
But that is a problem. CO2 could be considered pollution if what you are worried about is Global Warming. 100 kilograms of propane will make approximately the same CO2 as 100 kg of gasoline. So in that sense, you dont pollute less. THat is why some people are advocating the use of Hydrogen fuel. WHen Hydrogen is burned you dont get any CO2 at all.

Propane is very clean burning. However, it burns very hot which burns the crap out of the engine heads unless its been modified to get rid of the excess heat. Alcohol's octaine is about 149- and not only will it burn up the head, but it's hell on the valves also.

Propane doesn't have the power that gasoline or alcohol has, but its normally cheaper

gas has less carbon elements thus making it not only the cheapest avialable fuel source in great abundance but allso the cleanest natural burning fuel. the gasoline makers do not want to convert becuase it would cause them billoins of dollers to refert there operation to propane .

Less. Propane is natural gas, which is one of the cleanest fuels. That is why it has almost no odor. Suppliers actually have to add something to it to make it smell, for safety purposes (so that people can smell when it's leaking).

All the taxis in Vancouver, Canada use propane fuel. There must be a reason. I assume it's because it is cleaner.
