No, you shouldn't. Live a good and honest life, but do not worry about the next life.

My parents did. They were always saying this was wrong, that was wrong, and they talked constantly about getting to heaven. They were not very happy people, always worrying about if they were living right. I hope they found their heaven.

In fact, when my husband was so mean too me, and I was planning on a divorce, my mother said I had to stay with him, as I would get my reward in heaven in the next life to come. I was 35 years old at the time. 30 years later, I am so glad I left him. Would hate to still be there.

This attitude on life that they had, plus the fact I could not accept Christianity, as to me G-d is One (My G-d would not come to earth in human form), I left the church. I became a Jew, and am very very happy, thank you.

God never said anything about not having fun or enjoying this life.
Yes you should worry about your eternal life too. Just because you become a follower of God does not mean that enjoyment ends. Enjoyment begins because you have found the Lord and you just find different ways to enjoy what God has given to you.

The two are not mutually exclusive. You should plan ahead for the next life while enjoying this one. Sort of like retirement planning. Think about it: the next life is a lot longer than this one. Doesn't it deserve a little thought now?

No, you can plan for the first while enjoying the second. Just like you can work and pay your bills now, and go to movies and stuff, and still set a little money aside for retirement at the same time.

Think of it as a "spiritual IRA" you are preparing. We constantly set aside a little of ourselves each day for the afterlife. What we save up, is up to us. We can save treasure, or we can save fuel.

I don't know what is beyond this but I'm not going to worry about it one way or another and I'm going to live the life I've made here with the people I love.

Hi, Weemary... :-) (your name is so cute, it reminds of a little sprite or pixie)

According to thumpers, the more miserable we are in this life, the more enjoyable the afterlife.

But, we have to keep in mind the bible was commissioned by slave owners and people who had a vested interest in making sure people didn't revolt against them.

Nice piece of work convincing morons to enjoy eating slop while catering to their masters' every need & desire.

BTW, please do not consider this for "best answer," I don't need the points and prefer you choose someone else. Assuming you would have considered it in the first place.

Thanks.

:-)

Can't help but be "sweet" to someone who calls herself "weemary." :-)

It isn't that I don't want the points, it's that I don't need them. I prefer level 4 and below get the points to help them get to level 5. I don't usually explain it but the primary reason I don't normally give 5's and above "best answer" is that it's like giving a dollar to a millionaire.

Nice to have, but what are we going to do with them?

I prefer helping the poor to further enriching myself, even on Y!A's....

:-)

Enjoy this life too. It is a blessing. I know we do not share the same faith but I wish you a long and happy life.

If you are talking to a Christian, no the next life is eternity and they want you to make the decision that you will be stuck with right NOW. They don't believe that you should be enjoying anything whatsoever, make that decision right NOW. You should according to the Christian hate and despise anyone who does not agree with their religion and force others to make the same decision right NOW. (Disclaimer-All decisions are final and if not completely satisfied-you have not right to a refund of your life, the only option is to burn in hell.)

No. But, if you are going to harm others in your way of enjoying this life, those you harmed will bring you to justice on your next life.

I mean, this is one major reason why God sent prophets to mankind, to promote justice and virtue, and to condemn evil and idol worship.

No, you're not getting it straight. You should be enjoying this life and looking forward to the next one.
