I attend an extremely small school (80 kids, kindergarten through 12th grade). There is one teacher who really grinds on my nerves. She was my science teacher last year, and would be irritated and defensive when I asked questions she couldn't answer. She does not have a college degree, nor is she very intelligent. I suppose this didn't matter to the school. However, I am a very advanced student. (Not bragging). Now, she is my younger sister's science teacher. I was grinding up some oatmeal to help my sister with a science project, while my sister was doing the work and the learning. This teacher told me to stop helping, and that my sister needed to do the work herself. I stopped helping and didn't object. I don't want a big confrontation or to cause a problem. I did have some serious problems with her last year, which were halfway resolved. Now, some similar problems are reoccuring. How do I avoid her or "handle" her? How should I deal with people like this that I encounter in life?

This is a private school. She doesn't like me in specific. She is fine with the other students. All my other teachers like me.

Honestly, if she doesn't have a degree, I think you can report her to the National Educators Association or your area's school board. She is teaching illegally.

Heck, my mom is a teacher, and she's required to have a Masters! There is no place that full-time teaching without a degree is legal.

Right now she is teaching you, what may be the most valuable leason she can. People will always "grind" your nerves. If she is not that intelligent then why do you allow her to "grind" you? I would say your ability to overcome this issue through no process but handling it the way it should be, communication. Before you go off reporting people and trying to possibly ruin peoples lives, maybe you should stop and just have a simple conversation. I dont think this is to hard to do. If she already doesnt like you, what do you have to loose. Dont let others interfear with your progress. If your intelligent, use your intelligence to solve this problem.

OMG, I go to a private school and had the exact same problem with the Texas History teacher from Hell 2 yrs ago. So, ten kids in the class and there's gotta be a scapegoat right? So if you could teach the class better than her (i deffinetly can with my T.H. teacher, and i bet you can with this biatch) teach the class better than her! If she says something you know is wrong, tell her its wrong, and if she gives you the 'dont second guess me, im the teacher not u' tell her just how wrong she is and that you could be the teacher if not for child labor laws. She won't tell somebody in case you're right so she doesn't look stupid, eventually she'll get the picture and leave you alone. Now, while I have you're attention, PRIVATE SCHOOL SUCKS!!!! (uniforms too, we have a really awful one)

If she doesn't have a teaching degree, and it is a public school, you could get her fired, by contacting the board of education I assume. Although the superintendent or principal might not like you for it, I'm sure all the other students who hate that teacher will be proud of what you did. If a teacher isn't qualified to teach, then he/she shouldb't be teaching at all.

Try and get some Conservative Republican to hire her as campaign manager. She sounds perfect for the job. LOL
You must be going to private religious school that accepts no government money. Talk to your parents about the level of education you feel you and your sister are receiving. If they don't see things the way you see them, than avoid I'm smarter than you power struggles, because she has all the power right now. come up with creative ways where you can hep students. Peer tutering is one idea.

If she's expressing dislike for a specific person, that's u, u need to complain abt it. The school has to take some action with that, it's their duty to c that the student doesn't feel offended.
The besy way would be just to ignore her, otherwise it gets worse.

Sounds to me like an episode of Little House on the Prairie with a few kids added to make this question seem real..

I'm wondering how someone without a college degree is teaching. Nonetheless, try to treat her with respect. If the problem persists, you might want to air your grievances with the principal.

Try to get on her good side. Why don't you offer to help her. Do it in a way that she feels important `cause if she feels threatened ( which she does) she can cause hell for your sister. Maybe along the way she can learn a couple of things.
