as a 16 year old i do not think the police have any say in what you do but as a parent myself i would be mortified if my child could'nt talk to me about wanting to go to some country.
You should talk to your parents and make sure they understand that you want to be and should be treated adult as you are..... and can do what you like as long as you take responsibility for your actions you shoud be able to live your life as you like. good luck in all you do.

Of course you will need a passport to leave the US, and your parents will have to get it for you.

And yes if you go to another city in your own state, without your parents permission they an report you as a runaway, and depending on the nation, yes they may have the police there find you. If not you would be picked up at the airport trying to enter, if they call fast enough.

Once you are declared deliquent, the court can take custody of you if they beleive your home life is to blame.

You can fly on your own at the age of 16, however, your parents have to be the ones to contact the travel agency or airline in order to get you a ticket. If you leave on your own without your parents' permission or without your parents knowing, you can be charged as a runaway since you are still under the age of 18, unless you have gone through the court procedure of becoming an imancipated minor, then it would be different.

Can I ask which country are you in. The answer is the same here in Australia you are classed as a runaway .With the new travel Laws you would'nt get past the booking office. You need a passport. And you cannot leave this country without your parents consent. If you were to try you need money as you are not aloud into any country if you cannot support yourself.

Frankly it doesn't matter that the airlines see you as an adult..they are just charging you adult fees. If you are under the age of 18 in the USA you are a minor. And in most countries in Europe if you are under the age of 21 you are a minor. And there is also the passport issue. Stay home.

Yes they can notify the police but I am not sure they can do anything. Not unless you were in grave danger. I ranaway at 17. But nothing happened from it. No police - I suppose I was old enough to stand on my own two feet. But think about it. Best to stay in the country if you are leaving. You never know what could happen to you. Just be safe!

Be smart and stay home! You will get into legal trouble and with your parents. It is not worth it. Try getting a cam and look at them while you chat. You will get over missing them but doing something wrong will not help you or them. It will be costly, money and time andemotionally. Be smart about this becasue you are so young and it could start your young life on a bad rollercoaster ride to the dark side!

A. You need a passport.

B. If you go to friendly country they will help your parents find you and when they do they will throw you in jail untill they come to get you. If it is an unfriendly country, you'll probably be beaten, raped and killed by the USA hating natives and no one will ever know.

C. Don't be a moron, you'll throw your life away. Stay HOME.

You need a passport!

They may fly you, but they will come after you and anyone you are found with, or living with, is facing jail time for Interference With the Custody of a Minor!
