We're talking screaming at the top of her lungs/I almost called police thinking someone was getting beat-loud.

Absolutely. I have had to deal with this before.

Whenever they are doing it, play something totally unsexy at the highest possible volume. I used a Sesame Street clip that I played over and over. They seemed to feel that Big Bird and Ernie didn't help set the mood. :)

One caution: If you're not already upset at each other, this will get you there quick. You can expect an angry knock at your door. I didn't care because they were disrespecting me first, but you should understand that it will likely happen, just in case.

First, is it always the same guy? I mean, her husband or live-in boyfriend or like that? If not, I think you should point out to her that you can't help hearing her, and that you very nearly called the police because you were afraid for her safety. The word "police" will probably make her realize she needs to quiet down.

If it's always the same guy, you might want to have a little man-to-man talk with him. Same thing; after all, if you can hear enough to worry about whether you should be calling rescue, perhaps other people are able to hear, too, and it could be terribly embarrassing.

Point out to him that women sometimes get in this habit as a way to offer a compliment to the man -- say he makes her lose control because he's making her feel so good. All very well, but a lady finds quieter ways to let him know she is pleased. He should help her develop such communication skills.

First, have a conversation with her - even if it's small talk. This helps build the interpersonal relationship. When you get to a point where you two are completely comfortable talking with each other, casualy ask her one of the following questions:

1. "Isn't it embarrassing knowing that all of us neighbors hear you every time you have sex?"

or

2. "I was just wondering. Can I have the video to go with the audio next time you're having sex? I have a camera if you need to borrow it."

Don't call the police. That's not the way to get the point across, and it's a waste of their time and resources when you know it's not a real call.

Do you know this woman? If so, just tell her that you can hear her and that you're sure she'd want to know that her private times aren't so quiet.

If you don't know her, that might not be the best way to start out : ) Leave a note on her door in that case.

Edit -

OK - I gotta defer to the person who said to record it and play it back. TOO funny!!

Before we were married, my husband had a downstairs neighbor who kept his girlfriend screaming, "Oh God! Oh God!" at all hours. So, when we'd see him as we were leaving the apartment we'd smile, wave, and say something like "Hi God, how're you doing today?" He always gave us puzzled looks, so I don't think he ever really figured out what it was all about. But it helped us to laugh at the situation and at least take a little humor out of what could have otherwise been a miserable situation.

I know a church where the parishioners prayed too loud, screamed, chanted and so on. The people of the neighbouring houses called the police, because they just could not have this any longer and the church was fined. I know that later on they didn't pray so loud anymore, because they were afraid to be fined again.
I think it depends on the laws in your state, i live in NY state, what about you?
I hope your problem will be solved somehow, i imagine how you feel with screaming "at the top of lungs". I would be really embarrased.
Cheers!

Well my neighbors (upstairs) are like some kind of wierdos becuase ALL throughout the ENTIRE DAY, ALL MORNING, and EVERY NIGHT many times I hear that damned bed squeaking, squeaking, squeaking.

I am thinking of just stiking a note to their front door saying:

"Grease your furniture"

Maybe you can leave a note explaining that you can hear it, and tell them you respect their privacy and that is why you do not want to hear it...
though I dont know what they could od about it besides shut all the windows and doors.... otherwise they need to install sound insulation... :P

:)

Ask if she'll lend you the boyfriend!! LOL

Just ask her to keep the noise down, do it diplomatically as she may not realize that she makes so much noise.

Get a man/woman yourself and have a screaming contest with her, she may get the message!!

Do what I used to do to my neighbor upstairs. When they got loud, I blasted my stereo. It didn't take them long to figure out I could hear them. They got VERY quiet. LOL

Say to her, "Hey! I heard you gettin' some last night! Can I join in next time and watch?" And see what she says then.

Or...

You could record her and replay the tape during services at her church.
