It depends on your cultural background. Not every culture has a tradition of huge families.

Most people I think only have 2 to 4 kids. In the olden days people wanted to have big families why because lets say they had 12 kids maybe only 4 of those would make it to adult hood. Other reasons as mentioned no birth control and farmers wanted kids to help work the land when they were older.
Now a days people who have large families many don’t believe in birth control or they just want to have a big family. The lady last year who just has her 17 their reasoning was they just like kids. Sometimes if someone is any only child they might want to have more kids so their children have siblings, but I have also seen where someone from a big family only choose to have 1 kid or sometimes even none. My old art teacher was 1of 11, and he doesn’t have kids , the siblings of his that do don’t have more then 4.

there is not any rule that folk would desire to have huge families. Catholics at the instant are not meant to apply man made delivery administration, yet we are in a position to apply periodic abstinence -- relatively abstaining whilst the lady is ovulating. it relatively is generally completed by using fact of each and all of the scientific examine that has been completed approximately ovulation signs and indicators, so it relatively is extremely hassle-free for any lady to hint her very own physique's signs and indicators. Then it extremely is an hassle-free count number of delaying intercourse till the signs and indicators end. it relatively is no longer a sin by using fact the couple is making a sacrifice (giving up intercourse for a on a similar time as). Your assertion that having better than 2 childrens being monetary suicide isn't actual. it relatively is approximately priorities. I even have 3 childrens (want I had extra!) and yeah, I would desire to provide up dressmaker clothing or fancy vehicles and that i'd desire to stay in a modest domicile, yet so what? i do no longer care approximately possessions. i won't have the ability to take a vehicle or a house or clothing or a trip or a expert nail reducing to heaven. yet I *can* take my childrens!

Because throughout history people had large families...thus, traditional. I say let's change the tradition to smaller families and more attention for each individual child :)

I assume by "traditionally" you're referring to the "old days." Nowadays, the average family in America has 2-3 kids.
The big three (for the old days):
1. Lack of birth control (or religious edicts demanding the lack thereof).
2. High infant/child mortality.
3. Kids were cheap labor when there was a large farm to be operated.

First of all who said it was tradition?
Second...100's of years ago people had huge families because children often died either during birth or from childhood diseases, and children were free labor if you were like most people and worked the land for a living etc......

because there was no birth control, so there was no family planning. Also, since most of society was agricultural, more children meant more help on the farm. Today, more children equals more expenses, and it's impossible to get a normal job without some education, so people who care about their children limit the size of their families.

I'm not a history expert, but there are at least 2 reasons I can think of.
The first is the fact that the birth control pill is a relatively new thing.
The second reason is for free labor for family farms.

My family is Catholic, and the reason we are told to have large families is because large families can stick up for one another and large families can have more children of their own. Breeding is what it all comes down to. That and leaving a legacy.

A lot of times when someone has a large family they were brought up with a lot of brothers and sisters and they want that for themselves. Sometimes someone was an olny child and they choose to have a large family because they want their child to have siblings.
