My 4 yearold laughs and laughs when he notices that he has a little erection. I know little boys sometimes get little erections, but I don't know why. My wife and I differ in opinion as to whether it's his body doing a little test-run for the future.

It's a natural reaction. They get erections in utero as well. Humans are sexual beings, we are from day one. That doesn't mean that he's thinking sexual thoughts, or has seen sexual things. In a 4 year old it's probably a self stimulated erection. This isn't a bad thing, he doesn't understand what it means, or why it happens, he just knows that it feels good, and that it looks different than normal. Some kids laugh, (my oldest laughed) and some kind of freak out when they notice it at first. Either way, it's okay, and perfectly natural.

We ignored my boys' want for attention when they had erections. We just said, yup, that happens. And if they continued to play with "it" in our presence, or in front of others, we told them they needed to leave it alone, or go in their room. They're 10 and 8 now, and understand that masturbation is normal, and okay. Just not okay with others, or in front of others. It's something they do in their rooms by themselves ONLY.

A normal healthy boy starts getting erections when he is still inside his mothers womb. While erections will often happen from touching or from friction of the clothing or washing, sometimes it seems they happen for no reason at all these are called spontaneous erections. Every healthy male will have these while sleeping, perhaps five to seven times per night. Dreams or thoughts of sex are not necessary for these erections. It is just a function of a relaxed body during the dream phase of sleep. Likewise they can happen during waking hours (especially for young boys) when they feel good (secure, warm, loved) the skeletal muscles relax and it's up periscope. While older males, like dad, may have too many stresses and distractions to have spontaneous erections while awake, they do occur while sleeping.

Nature has a reason that boys come with this exuberance wired in. The erectile tissues need to be stretched to do their growing and the spongy tissues need to be flooded with oxygen rich blood occasionally or they would be replaced with scar tissue, which won't expand well for an erection, resulting in a small painful erection (if any).

It's like a doctors office.
The blood is pumping in his penis to make sure everythings working correctly.
Most males get erections as a sign they are healthy.
But also it could mean he has to pee either way it's a good sign.

It's all biological and physical. He's not "turned on" in the sense that you would be. He doesn't KNOW what that's about yet.

"Erections: These are common in males of all ages. Erections in may be triggered by a full bladder and demonstrate that the nerves to the penis are normal." http://www.pamf.org/children/newborns/development/appearance.html

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/A5Gtg
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.
