a question asker earlier today pointed out that fighting over god and religion is an oxymoron. i agreed with her. suddenly people are giving me thumbs down? and telling her f off? well i was just wondering, hypothetically, as an athiest in the united states (possibly the most disliked combination for some of you), what have i done personally to deserve such hatred from religious people? arent you supposed to be nice and accepting? why do you think that fighting over religion is what you should be doing?

thanks for saying you dont hate me lol! i was trying to ask it in a more general sense though, like why do religious terrorists hate the US and why do religious people tend to be some of the least accepting.
also it was hypothetical, im not saying where i live and whether or not im an athiest!

I don't hate you at all. I'm not good though. The Bible says none are good. I am concerned for you and desire that you see the truth before its too late. Christ did come and die for you whether you accept it or not. I pray often that God would open the eyes of the people blinded by the religion of atheism, as well as many other religions, so that they might see the truth. Well I hope this helps you. God Bless

If the biggest thing I had to worry about was getting a thumbs down in my life, I believe I'd start some soul searching. I fiddle with this thing a few minutes at night in hopes of reaching some lost soul and making a difference or sometimes even finding a good brother or sister to talk with. Don't take this so seriously

"arent you supposed to be nice and accepting?"
My dear SongLyric. Have you not figured out yet that they will only be nice and accepting of you if you agree with them?
Move on. Be more concerned about your own personal growth and evolution. Along the way you will learn a great deal and find others of like mind. Those who look at and appreciate all the inherent wonders in every spiritual path. Even Christianity! Ha!

I am sorry that you got such negative feedback. Christians are not supposed to "hate" someone who does not believe, but try to reason with them and express their beliefs in a tactful and respectful way. This does not mean that Christians have to be accepting of something that is clearly stated to be wrong in the Bible, but they are not to "hate" the person who is doing it. They can disagree without inflammatory remarks and obscenities.

I'm a Christian, not a "religious" person. What I don't like is being looked down on by the "atheists" who come here to mock my beliefs. I won't fight with you about God. If you don't believe, that is your right. God gave you free will to believe what you want. He does not force anyone to believe in Him or to believe Him. I also don't like people who profess to be Christian behaving as you have described. There a a lot of people who say they are Christian, but they are one in name only.
To "Tones": You are not a threat to my hope.

I never said I hate you, I don't hate anyone. I try my best to treat people the way that I wanted to be treated and the way Jesus wants us to treat people. People get a bad taste in there mouths because one Christian says something wrong, don't judge me by what others say and to be honest, I am not here to judge, that will be for God and only God. Peace, sister.

Couldn't tell you. I'm not sure that fighting over gods is an oxymoron, but it certainly is moronic. The old "My Father in Heaven can beat up your Father in Heaven" gets old real fast. I'd suggest a comparitive religions class with a balanced instructor.

Not all religious people are like that. They obviously have issues. I agree with you and the other person as well. I'm quite happy in the church I'm in. I invite people to come, but if they don't want to, I just say let me know if you change your mind. I suppose the people who get vicious and rude about it aren't confident enough in it to have it questioned or be disagreed with.

I think "good" and "religious" is an oxymoron.
People who claim to be Christian should be among the kindest and most forgiving. They should be a beacon of light for the rest of the world. I have to wonder if most of them are just "religious". No Christian at all.

WILL PEOPLE PLEASE STOP CONFUSING RELIGION AND GOD!? Religion does not = God. Religion does not = righteousness. Religion does not = a relationship with God.
22Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem. 23Someone asked him, "Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?"
He said to them, 24"Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, 'Sir, open the door for us.'
"But he will answer, 'I don't know you or where you come from.'
26"Then you will say, 'We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.'
27"But he will reply, 'I don't know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!'
