You can rent a locker at the airport to keep your luggage in for the day. It's only a few dollars a day, as I recall. Have fun!

There were some statements made earlier that are not correct. First, lockers were removed from the New York area airports after Sept. 11, 2001. Second, a hotel will only store your bags if you are a guest either checking in later in the day or checking out. They will not store luggage for non-guests, period. You should call the cruise line to see if they have a baggage transfer option. Most of the major cruise lines have this if you purchased your air and cruise as a package but some will allow you t pay a fee for the service if you booked the airfare yourself. They will tell you where and at what time a representative from the cruise will be at the airport to begin accepting bags. If you cannot arrange for baggage transfer from the airport ask the cruise line how early you can check your bags for the ship dockside. You might be able to transport the bags yourself via taxi and check them right away and have the whole day to explore the city knowing your bags are on the dock and ready to go.

No, I don't. I went on a cruise and we left our luggage in a storage place at the airport and then came back and got it and then it went with us to the ship and was delivered to our room by the ship personnel. I believe from the airport we took a bus to the ship with alot of other passengers. The luggage and we couldn't go to the ship any earlier and there wasn't any way we were going to haul luggage around.

Check with your travel agent or the cruise line regarding early check-in of luggage. The cruise ship will be there early in the morning for debarking, cleaning and having food brought aboard. Cruise ships' docks are in mid-town Manhattan, so you will be in rather an ideal location to do some sightseeing.

The best place to leave your luggage would be at the cruise pier. The front pier staff usually make arrangements so that you can give your luggage to the porters and they will place them inside the loading dock for delivery to the ship when they start checking in passengers. Also explain to them you don't want to check in - just you want to drop the luggage and be persistent.

There may be a place in the airport where you can check your luggage for a fee. Atleast there was in Ft. Lauderdale.

Call a couple of hotels and see if they will let you check your luggage there, some might do it for a price and maybe you'll get lucky and they'll do it for free for the goodwill.

Are you a member of a health club that has associate clubs in NYC? If so, the health clubs will sometimes let members use their lockers.
