if that is all you are trying to do you should be able to take your vcr directly into your cable box. if your box doesn't have an input, then run the cable box to the vcr and the vcr to the tv. the only problem with that is that you will have to have the vcr on all the time. another suggestion is to buy one of those multi-system adapter things(dont know what it is called). but you can buy one for about 20 bucks and hook everything you own into it and never change the tv channel from 3 to 4 or have to leave your vcr on. make sure that you have plenty of rca cables(red, yellow, and white) if you do that

You'll use the main cable line (probably a screw on, or coax, connector) from the wall to the ant in on your cable box. Use the video and audio out to run a set of RCA cables (those are your red white yellow - yellow is video, red and white are audio) into your VCR video and audio in. The colours of the actual connections doesn't really matter, it's just a matching thing, so just make sure your left audio matches, your right audio matches, and your video matches. You can use the screw on connectors (coax) instead as the other person mentioned, but you don't get stereo sound that way. (Oh, and it doesn't matter where you live.... channel 3 and channel 4 are standard settings for viewing everywhere in north america, just depends on how you set it up...) Good luck!

take the wire from the wall or outlet run in into the infrom or input on the cable box then run a wire from the outfrom or output of the box to the infrom or input of the vcr then run a wire from the outfrom or output of the vcr to the tv and depending on where you live you have to tune your tv to what ever channel your vcr is set for i live in sacramento, ca so i have to tune my tv to channel four.
