I met my partner at a Christmas party. Despite sobering up, after more than sixteen years we are still together.

Do boyfriends count? If so then mostly: school, work, friend's house, college, shared lodgings, club, theatre, voluntary work. I met my now ex-partner at work. We went to the circus as friends and he, apparently, fell in love with me when I put on a monkey mask and danced through the park. No accounting for taste.

Someone once told me you have to get out and get seen before you can meet anyone. That always seemed like sound advice to me.

At a north London Pub 'dance floor

I asked her to dance because she had turned down all the others that had asked that evening. I thought I was some thing special it turned out she was just getting embarrassed at turning everyone down.
