I notice its GIRLS saying a guy wouldnt wear an engagement ring, tsktsk girls we dont know every single guy on the planet now do we? As for asking the guy to marry you there is NOTHING wrong with that, why the hell should a girl wait for what they want if they know exactly what they want! Most times if you wait on most guys you won't get anywhere. Not because the guy is stupid or anything but thats just how they think.
Anyways, enough ranting the man would wear it on his left hand or on a chain around his neck if he felt silly wearing it....and if he feels silly wearing it he better get over it since there will be a WEDDING ring on it anyways later. Think of it as a practice run:). And once again for those ppl that said he doesnt wear the ring you do? GROW UP AND WELCOME YOURSELVES TO THE 21st CENTURY!!!!!

I asked my fiance to marry me and had a ring and everything. He didn't feel it was the right way to do things but he did accept. So what we did is went and chose an engagement ring for me. Then I gave him free reign to do his proposal - the way it "should be" in his head. Mind you I had to wait 4 months for this but I didn't mind.

So anyway now its official and we have had the engagement party etc. But have decided to keep his ring for his wedding band. So he isn't wearing a ring now but will after we're married. And I will always know it was the original engagement ring. But everyone is happy now. Oh and it will be the left hand.

Never in my life have I heard of a guy wearing an engagement ring. I don't think I know a guy that would wear one either. That is for the girl to wear.

Neither. I wish I could elaborate, but there's no tradition for a man to wear an engagement ring (or at least to do and retain any measure of masculinity).

However... if you want to make up your own tradition, and your fiancé is into it, then I say go for it!

Let him ask you. If he isn't asking, he isn't ready. Let him be the "man". If you must propose...I would wait on the ring thing. I don't know ONE guy who would want to wear an engagement ring. I think it would make any guy feel lame.

my (now) hubby asked me to marry him which i gladly accepted. but as a token of our love we bought matching (non wedding) rings to wear on our right ring fingers.
we did buy actual wedding rings later on and wear them on our left hand
