I recently ran into an ex for the first time in about a year, and have since been hanging out with them on a casual basis again several times a week. My feelings for them have come back even stronger than originally. I don't want to mess up the friendship we have rebuilt over the last few weeks, but I want it to become more than a friendship. They also just recently had their heart broken by another person and I feel like if I move in now it might cause some problems.

Why do you refer to your ex as "them"? Is there more than one.

Try being a rational observer to the situation, in other words look at this as if you were a total outsider seeing what is happening. Feelings are not facts.

Oops caught you by your mistake of word usage. Your feeling are torn between two people. That is why you are using the word Them, instead of him/her, whatever. Or maybe you just don't want us to know your sexual orientation. Anyway that's beside the point. There is no correct answer in the game of love. Who knows?

its not love its more the need to comfort because they are hurt and you feel a slight bond because of the past don't act on your feelings just be there and listen as you have been and if it is truly meant to be they will make the move not you and then you will know its real.

Be honest to him/her. Explain your situation and prevent yourself from hurting yourself and probably hurting him too. If they want you back then so be it. If they don't want you back but instead they want you as a friend then let it be so.
