Why just yesterday, I was driving down 53rd St. when I heard this awful crash behind me. I jammed on the brakes and ran back to find a car wrapped around a telephone pole. When I got to the injured driver, it was just teribble…blood was everywhere. My knees went limp and I didn’t know what to do. But all at once, I remembered something from my first-aid training. There is an old Hindu legend about a time when everyone had the wisdom of the gods, but people abused the privilege. Brahma decided that the knowledge of that wisdom should be hidden where it is very difficult to find. One suggested, “Let’s bury it deep within the earth.” “No, people will dig down in the earth and find it.” “Then let’s put it into the deepest ocean.” Again Braham shook his head, “No, people will learn to dive and find it there someday.” “Why don’t we hide it on the tallest mountain?” “No people can climb the highest mountain. I have a better place. Let’s hide id won inside of people. They’ll never think to look there.” J. Griffith

I read this in a book from Joan Bauer. The character Ivy Breedlove said...

"You've got to get behind a person's public mask to find the real humanity."

I especially like this one because it basically means, don't judge a book by it's cover.
