Which religion has the most followers in our world today?
What religion are you? I am just very curious to see how many people don't follow any religion either.
There is no need to be spiteful and please I would like some sort of seriousness in your answers. I don't mind the odd funny but nothing that's going to upset too many.

I am not asking this question because I want to choose a religion, I was brought up a Roman Catholic.
Please I don't want anybody preaching to me. My parents do enough of that.
I live by my concience.
I just want answers.
Thank you those of you who have given me answers without preaching.

I am interested in your thoughts on religion but again please don't preach to me.
Preaching pushes people away. Action speack louder than words.
"princeoff" just be nice to people and don't ear bash them.

I was raised Catholic but I turned away from that after I turned 18, for no other reason except I did not like what the church was saying. I became born again when I was 35 a few years after I married my wife. Her parents are devout Christians, not preachy, but by example. That made me curious to see about their beliefs and their God, our God. I am now 53 and I have fell in and out of Christianity many times over the years, the putting God on a back burner type of thing. I am thankful that He never stopped loving me, because now I know how much He loves all of us. I don't like using the turn Christian or religion, I prefer to be a follower of Christ and I try my best to live a life like Christ and with His help I know that it will be done.

I've found that religion is largely a political construct with the objective of controlling the thoughts of the masses. Most of them are filled with hypocrisies, contradictions, and nonsensical theologies. They mask these flaws by demanding "faith" rather than logical thinking and reasoning.
I found God through modern science. General Relativity, Quantum Mechanics, Superstring Theory, and holographic universe theories all show that we are all part of the original source, connected to each other and to God at the most fundamental level, and co-creators with God of our experience.
Further research has allowed me to fill in the gaps with spiritual knowledge from Christianity, Hinduism, Bhuddism, and Judaism, but only when their respective religious texts were treated as symbolic parables and the core teachings were sought. Which incidentally agree with each other and with modern science.
The answers to all the great questions are known, but most people are so mired in dogma they can't see the forest for the trees.

Right now christianity is in the lead, with about 2200000000 followers. Islam comes second with 1400000000 followers. After that are like hinduism and irreligiousness, each with about a billion followers. You can read more figures on it here:

As for me, I'm an atheist. I've looked at the matter as logically as I can, and the evidence for God just doesn't add up to enough.

i think that the umbrella of christianity has the most.
however it is fractured and split up among several (hundred)
churches.
Islam too is split into many factions.
so i would say that the largers single (non factioned) religion would be buddahist, the worlds 3 largest religion, but probally the largest single faction.
I am a Celtic Pagan.

Christianity (including all forms; including cultural Christianity) is estimated to have about 2.1 billion adherents, and so is the religion with the most followers.
I am a Christian. I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).
For scientific and intellectual evidence for the existence of God, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/godsci/evidence.htm
Cordially,
John

I follow the Biblical religion
James 1: 26. If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
27. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
