Maybe the characters on 7th Heaven were hoping for a Luke when they got Lucy.

As far as I understand there is no person that has the name Lucy in the Bible. Just because there is someone in 7th Heaven that has the name Lucy doesn't mean anything, the one thing that it really means is that there is an actress that plays Lucy's role in 7th Heaven.

Lucy could be a feminine derivative of Luke from the New Testament... or, alternatively from Lucifer (but possibly less likely).
Cordially,
John

Lucy is not in the Bible. It is short for Lucia, which means "the shiny/bright one" and was a Latin expression for the morning star. She was an early saint and martyr, sorry can't remember her story. maybe wikipedia.org can help you there.

St Lucy had her eyes gouged out...I don't think she is not in the bible but you will see depictions of her holding her eyes on a plate in religious art...gruesome!
Lucy = Female form of Lucifer I guess (LOL)
