Sounds like a dump. The Yachtsman Hotel is the absolute best value accomodation in Myrtle Beach. No kiddin' Try the north-side, city-view rooms. You still have an ocean view because the whole suite is one-way glass and you can get rooms from the 12th to 20th floor. Your balcony overlooks Ocean Blvd or whatever you call the big street. Prices are no worse than any other nice hotel. "Family-oriented" Must be over 22 unless accompanied. Crappy web-site. Efficiency kitchen and whirlpool tuv tv/vcr/cable No broadband, unless they have recently upgraded. Indoor outdoor pools/ hottubs Restaurant/pier right off elevator. No other place like it!

the best western carolinian beach resort is biggest dump in all off myrtle beach. we had to be moved from our room twice to another room because of problems, water coming through the ceiling in one room, and the refridgerator did not work in the next. drunken parties were going on everywhere and we did not feel safe there. also the place was filthy, never been in a place like this hope to never again. we stayed 1 night it was awful and the employees kept telling jokes when you had any interaction with them.

Best Western does have certain brand standards they have to maintain, which is why they are the world's biggest chain. You usually can't go wrong with them. They recently added free high speed wireless internet to all their rooms, and 98% of them offer a free continental breakfast, which helps when you're on vacation.

I've never been to the Myrtle Beach one, but our family almost always stays at BW since they are very strict on their membership rules. Each one is independently owned and operated, though, so you will find variations but that keeps it interesting!
