And no taking the jobs that "Americans wouldn't take" does not count. I want someone to give a legitimate positive thing that they have given back to America, a reason that might prove that they are not as worthless leeches as I think they are

Well nothing unless you call being a burden on the American tax system "giving back".

To that LuLu lady - How is that the U.S.'s problem? How is a person living like that going to assimilate into this first class country from a 3rd word (some say 4th world) country? You make no sense.

there is no way to prove that.

all i can tell you, is that if people were not employing them, they would not be here. i don't employ any, but this debate you wish for is as meaningful as if we were trying to agree on how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

therefore, all i can say is that i see no reason why this scourge is one we must urgently address. not one. i see so few mexicans (and i live in california, grew up in tx) ... and so the tales of people pouring across our borders to steal our jobs do not move me. i can see that they are not true.

so, before i imagine how we may be benefitting from massive amounts of cheap labor (ever wonder why new orleans is mostly black? it will soon be mostly mexican)... i would like to know what justifies a wall. there must be a river before i begin talk of damming it or damning it...

they are not doing jobs we wont do! They are simply making farm workers like me get lower wages so that I have to stay in a really crappy job for years on end because all of the other farmers are using illegals for 6 bucks an hour but nobody else will compete with my jobs 10 bucks an hour.If I could even find one place in my area to pay 8 bucks I would quit my job I hate it so bad.Have any you ever worked with these people? We had a girl who would not use the toilet but instead would squat in corner and go like that! Can you imagine having to clean our restrooms?Maybe she was crazy maybe she never saw a toilet before but I think the illegals are bad for everyone.

The LEGAL S that I know have given back alot. Most are hard workers, pay taxes, and are good citizens.I saw a report on the news awhile ago about how hard it is to get farm workers to pick fruit & vegatables because they only make $ 9.85 a hr. I know a lot of americans who would love to make $9.85 a hr. If things are so bad why did they start the Farmworkers Union. I thought the union existed to get you better wages. I guess the union is not doing their job.I use to be a union member (teamsters). They didnt stop my company from selling to someone who brought in their own drivers,.But i still got billed for my dues//

Ouch, worthless leeches? WHEW!

No human who works their tail off and travels through snake infested deserts and pays a few years worth of salary to a coyote so they can get into the country to pick grapes in 100 degree weather can really be considered a leech.

They provide cheap labor to large and small corporations who make insane profits for themselves and their shareholders (you can be one too!). They make food, hotels and other services and products affordable by lowering the market wages in the job markets they're in.

But simple math says they take more out of the economy, financially, than they put in. So they are net consumers (they contribute less labor value than the value of the services they consume or the burden on infrastructure they represent).

They are people, people that work hard, and people that their home countries have ignored, despised, hated and abandoned. It ain't easy for them, but I understand your frustration. They are, really, their country's issue, and should not be ours.

This question sucks, most of the answers suck, and you can tell the bias by the thumbs up/thumbs down ratings too (people are giving a thumbs up to the opinions they, themselves, hold).

Lets be honest, most of the people bashing illegal immigrants would be just as likely to bash the legal immigrants! Illegals are not taking our 'resources' because they are not eligible and trhey are either hiding or just trying to fit in! They are more likely than legals to adopt our language and our culture because the fact that they are trying to fit in, not stick out. They have been struck by harsh times in their country and are trying to change their lives. Plus, our country almost encourages illegal immigration because statistics show that illegals make more money than legals and get here MUCH faster than going the legal route. And by the way, most illegals end up becoming legal anyway...that is our country gives them legal status! So its like our country is awarding their criminal behavior. Basic psychological behavioral theory - reward good behavior and punish bad, but if you reward criminal/illegal behavior then why are you SURPRISED when more if it happens??

Maybe instead of criticizing the illegal immigrants we should be looking at ourselves. At our policies, and our lack of border control. How is it that we can have thousands of soldiers across the ocean in Iraq but we dont have enough to watch our borders? Lets all do a little more finger-pointing at the government FIRST rather than belittling individuals.

I saw on TV yesterday that Mexicans in TJ are throwing their trash over the border now into San Diego. I think that is the most positive thing to come out of TJ.

Sure, there are benefits for various people by illegals being here, but we have to ask, "at what cost to the nation as a whole are these illegals allowed to benefit certain groups"?

You can tell that none of you are immigrants. That you have never been in a situation where you need to find and make money no matter the cost. You have never been to Mexico to see the actual poor people, not the so-called poor people who live here in the U.S. The poor ones here are 10 times richer than the poor ones in Mexico. You haven't seen the mothers on the side of the road holding their babies in their arms selling snake skins and venom for whatever price an American tourist will give them for it. You haven't seen them beeging you for money because they're children are dying. You haven't seen the carboard and tin squares that they call home. I have been there and seen it. Sadly, until God decides to punish each of you for your racist remarks and cold souls you won't understand their situation. You better hope that you never fall into their situation and have some humiliate you for wanting to give somthing better to your family. You should be ashamed!!!

Illegals give the business owners that hire them an advantage because they have ILLEGAL and cheap labor. It hurts just about everyone else in society and it hurts the middle class taxpayer the most.
