First inventing a new fuel would not bring peace to the middle east. Petroleum is about all they have to live on in the middle east. When it dries up, and it will with in a few years the entire region will in 100 times worst shape than it is now. The poor countries like Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, for example are the poor governments( in the middle east practually the only ones sharing the wealth are the governmental individuals or their families) the rest are very poor.(Just like the president of venszela where the president sells 15 cent gas to his people who can't buy 15 cent loafs of bread so he can give it to Cuba so they can keep their dictator in business while they starve over there too.) all middle east countries are dictatorships, or run by kings or princes (family dictators) and they remain in control by selling petroleum. Were I to invent an alternative fuel(and there are plenty of people who do so, and sell it out) The infrastructure of the middle east would fall even harder into the quirgmire it's religion, and leaders has pushed it into and erupt into all out war on about every border.
Without the western support they dispise so much this region would fall on their deflated butts with in weeks.
To answer your question, I would go for an all electrical american car which would not need to be charged every day or ever except by the auto's own resources. If Toyoto can install a 120volt /20 amp receptable in the rear or front of their cars which will run an electric grill for several hours than they can installone which will run a dam charger for the car battery. If you can charge an electric car in your forn yard on 120 volts alternating current at 15 amps you can charge it riding down the road, It's juast common sense .The person who makes it work will be worth billins if he refuses to selout to the big guys immedaitely.

Lol! You think forcing the middle east to go broke will bring peace there? You must be a little kid with an educated guess about world politics that you learned from MTV.

If it were somehow possible to make fuel out of everyday garbage, I would try to help make that fuel. We keep creating garbage, and then putting it in land fills. Pretty soon, we will run out of places to put it. It would also be cool if we could make fuel out of carbon dioxide.

wasted food. It grows mold and they made pennicillin out of that. So as bad as garbage smells, seems like we could do something with that. Put all those 'science experiments' in the regfrigerator to good use.
