So I have this 2 year old chihuahua and she's been acting weird for the past 4 to 5 days, she sleeps all day and doesnt let anyone come close to her. When she sees someone coming close to her she growls then starts barking showing her teeth as if though she is going to bite. Would anyone know what could be wrong with her? I dont want to spend a huge amount of money taking her to the vet if its something small.

if in fact she is in heat wouldnt she be bleeding. She can't be pregnant because she has no interaction with other dogs, she is always inside or in the backyard. Her poop looks normal, she eats but only when she is by herself and nobody is around. And another thing I have noticed is that she has this rubber duck that she wont let go of. she always has it in her mouth and if we take it away from her she cries.

She really does need to go to the vet. Sudden changes in behavior can signal a lot of things including but not limited to pain, hormone inbalances, and neurological disorders. Without a lot more information and a thorough exam, nobody can tell you what is wrong with your dog. If you can't even get close to her without her snapping at you, something is really wrong. That is no way for a pet to live.

Could be a false pregnancy with her Ducky being the "puppy" and this is a rare but realistic thing for females to do if they are not spayed or bred. My chihuahua BooBoo took my b/f's cell phone as her puppy and if it would ring she would growl and bite anyone who touched it. He could take the phone from her once in awhile and she would cry but after a couple of weeks we weaned her off of her "puppy" so be considerate and let her have a couple of weeks with her "puppy" and slowly wean her off of it. Then it should just be a regular toy to her again.

is she hurt? chihuahua's can be a little snippy so be careful, but under normal circumstances, she should be glad to see you... she sounds like she's not feeling very well.

You will NEED to go to the vet. Is she spayed? If not, she is in heat. Get her spayed.
