Whether today, or in 1200C.E. The Pope is no different than Pope Urban II, the greatest of the Crusades instigators.
I think this Pope has lost the respect that many had for him. He has no ability to now consider himself a Christian, he speaks like a heathen, not a man of G-d.
And, people--------------you cannot say Muslims are bad and are terrorists. A few of them are---and these you can call Islamic radicals.
I think Christians who approve of the Pope and think he is right, are sick.---downright sick.
Do not lump everyone in the same group.

Well The Pope didn't say that, he quoted another person as saying it.. What we have is daily Muslims are in the news, DAILY and they are blowing people up and cutting their heads off. Even the IRA (which doesn't represent the catholic church) didn't do that. They figure that in Iraq muslims blow up around 100 other muslims daily. What other religion in this present world is doing that???
What the pope said is not racist (islam is not a race) and he just quoted another person..
The muslims are starting to get violent over this to prove that they are peaceful??? Like the cartoons??
They only prove that what the Pope said is right... Sorry, but we see it in the news every single day..

Right now they are the only ones being violent. It's not just "Muslims" it's radical Islamic terrorists.
I know this will come as a shock but did you know that Islam was modeled after the Crusades? They (Muslims) swept through the Middle East and Northern Africa do the same to Christians and those of the Jewish faith. Just thought you might want to know some Muslim history.
The Crusades were wrong and what the Spaniards did with the Inquisition was wrong...THEY WERE ALSO MANY HUNDREDS of years ago.
Anyone that tortures or kills someone because they don't accept that religion or converts to another religion/faith is WRONG. They will be judged for their actions, too.
I am not a violent Christian. Jesus tells us to love one another. That's the second greatest commandment. The number one commandment being to love the living God with everything we have.

Have you actually seen any of what has gone on in the world lately. Mulsims are far too thin skinned for their own good. What thepopedid was quote a scolar from 700 years ago, and muslims have misquoted it, anb blown it all out of proportion, those were not the pope'swords, but he did have his point. Muslim reaction is kind of like the school bully shouting the people shouldn't say that he hit them, even though they have the marks to prove it. Prove them wrong, or shut up. prove that most of the violence today is not by muslims trying to force their ideals on the rest of the world.

The Koran endorses the concept of jihad, often translated as holy war
The Pope on Tuesday repeated criticism of the Prophet Mohammad by the 14th century Byzantine Emperor Manuel II Palaeologus, who said everything Mohammad brought was evil "such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."
He was quoting another pope.
Which is not to say that it was wrong or right, but one has to wonder if the pope will have any attempts on his life by muslims
or there are any violent riots because of this. which would make the statement true.

Lets admitt it people. Humans are just violent (well, not all of them of course). Humans like to be proclaimed righteous, and they also like to have their atrocities approved by the magority. Regardless of race, religion, or the country they live in, humans all over the world are commiting all kinds of disgusting crimes which they then try to cover up with false reasons and excuses. Radical christians claim they do it for God, Radical Muslims claim they do it for God, Radical Jews claim they do it for God. Where are the TRUE peacemakers? they are the people all around the world, that are mixed into these groups, but they are not of the spirit of these groups. they are true worshippers of God, and Followers of peace. They are not interested in public opinion, they dont follow the crowd, and they have a clear consciounse. They do there best and hope for the best. Do i hear an Amen??

Everyone has the potential to be violent. It is a genetic trait in man kind to seek war. In fact are closest animal relative the chimp happens to have primitive wars between chimp communities suggesting that this is the nature of most primates (including us) the difference is we have a conscience. If we chose we do not have to kill. we can tame our primitive instincts using our thoughts. With that said Christians are indeed violent and so are catholics (the witch burnings for example and the Spanish Inquisition.) It isn't about religion or culture it is about feeling threatened. No one race or religion is to blame.

Just recall the news, let's say from the 80's until nowadays.
Read what it is happening in Pakistan, Iraq, and other countries between Shiites and Sunnites.
When did the Christians, without any declared war, blew up civil airplanes, churches, trains, metros, stations, crowded markets, touristic places, schools, buses, buildings, etc?

I agree! And in the Pope's position as a Pope he was wrong to single out anyone or religion or group. He needs to repent to the Islam and God. He quoted from an old century text, yes he did, but that is just it, it is old century and not used in THIS century for a reason. He did not respect that and now so many are hurt and angry with this coming from the POPE. It was wrong to use that old text that is not used anymore in this century. Even the pope is not perfect and needs to repent on this one.
