that is too funny about spots in the mouth..In which case I have had many 'pits' and thought they were other breeds! I always thought one of them was a Springer Spaniel...hmmmmm..Maybe I've been wrong all along?

Try to take a look at your dog's upper palate. If it has many irregular, dark brown or black spots all over it, then the dog is pure Pit Bull Terrier.

There is no way for you to know unless you know his parents and know that they are purebred. If you don't have registration papers or a pedigree from the owners that you trust, there is no way to know. In any case, since there is no pedigree, the dog should be neutered.

I didn't know that about the spots... I guess T-Bone *is* full pit... (I was told his dad was a pit and mom was Staffie)

Unless the parents are papered then you have no idea if it is pure or not.

Unless you have his AKC papers, there is no way you can be 100% sure of his lineage.
Even if he did have papers, some puppy mills and bad breeders forge those documents.
