I'M A CHRISTIAN BUT I DON'T FORCE JESUS UPON ANYONE. I BELIEVE WE ALL MAKE OUR OWN CHOICES IN LIFE, AND WHATEVER CHOICES WE MAKE WE ALSO CHOOSE THE CONSEQUENCES THAT GO ALONG WITH THOSE CHOICES.

This reminds me of Da vinci code stuff - addiction.

1) I can't say - I am an unbeliever. All I can say is that a non-obsession for Jesus isn't unhealthy;

2) I think so. Like fans who love their favorite star, and even more...

3) Take their usual bible and give them instead a bible translated in a language they don't understand (icelandish, for instance).

4) It's hard to heal addicted people. There is Anonymous Alcoholic. Maybe there is also Anonymous Fanatics.

Subject Interesting reponse from ABC
Body: AN ABC MESSAGE YOU HAVE TO READ
If more of us took a stand maybe we could have some decent TV programs. -- Jim Nugent is a coach in Childress, Texas.

Jim writes:

My name is Jim Neugent. I wrote to ABC (on-line) concerning a program called "THE PRACTICE." In last nights episode, one of the lawyer's mothers decided she is gay and wanted her son to go to court and help her get a marriage license so she could marry her 'partner.' ! I sent the following letter to ABC yesterday and really did not expect a reply, but I did get one.

My original message was:

ABC is obsessed (or should I say abscessed) ! with the subject of homosexuality. I will no longer watch any of your attempts to convince the world that homosexuality is OK. THE PRACTICE can be a fairly good show, but last night's program was so typical of your agenda. You picked the 'dufus' of the office to be the one who was against the idea of his mother being gay and made him look like a whiner because he had convictions. This type of mentality calls people like me a "gay basher." Read the first chapter of Romans (that's in the Bible) and see what the apostle Paul had to say about it.... He, God and Jesus were all 'gay bashers'. What if she'd fallen in love with her cocker spaniel? Is that an alternative lifestyle? (By the way, the Bible speaks against that, too.)

Here is ABC's reply from the ABC on-line webmaster:

How about getting your nose out of the Bible (which is ONLY a book of stories compiled by MANY different writers hundreds of years ago) and read the declaration of independence (what our nation is built on), where it says "All Men are Created equal," and try treating them that way for a change! Or better yet, try thinking for yourself and stop using an archaic book of stories as your lame crutch for your existence. You are in minority in this country and your boycott will not affect us or our freedom of statement.

Jim Neugent's second response to ABC:

Thanks for your reply. From your harsh reply, evidently I hit a nerve. I will share it with all with whom I come in contact. Hopefully, the Arkansas Democrat Newspaper will include it in one of their columns and I will be praying for you.

for a crutch? Please resend this to everyone in your mailbox.

I wonder if the person from ABC considered how many people would read this e-mail!

This is one we should definitely pass on.

I think there are fanatics in all things that man shows an interest in. Being a fanatic and being a fan is two different things. Unhealthy is just that unhealthy, not only for the fanatic but for those that get his mental garbage thrown on them.

For me a Christian fanatic is someone that uses Jesus as a way to justify their hate and bigotry towards others. Even if you don't agree with someone you don't have to cast stones.

Kind of like the statement "Some Christians are so heavenly minded hey are no earthly good." But frankly in this generation I think most Christians are so earthly minded they are no heavenly good" remember the church today is the fallen apostate church that appears in the end time, so try not to compare it too much with what Jesus taught and expected from His followers.

Insanity is not having a close relationship with God and accepting his son, our savior, Jesus Christ. Perhaps you want what they have. Before you label those followers, including myself, as insane....pick the bible up and read it....you will be surprised how the word of God and Jesus will change your life and outlook.

I believe obsession with anything is unhealthy. Back in the 60s we used to say that there were heroin freaks, speed freaks, pot freaks, Jesus freaks, and that they were all in the same category. Jesus himself forbade public displays of worship, he called such people hypocrites and stated that their reward was the regard of other people like themselves, and not that of the Father in Heaven. This from a one-time Catholic.

Feed them crack instead. Yeah. Then society would be much better off, ya think?

How is time spent in Scripture and in prayer a bad thing? There is a place in scripture that talks about lukewarm people, those neither hot or cold, being spewed out of His mouth. Who would you rather be if you have a basic belief in scripture? My choice seems pretty clear.

It is very unhealthy. It's another form of self-medication. You can convince yourself of anything if you try. You should see the movie "Jesus Camp." I don't think it has come out yet but it shows how utterly INSANE some Christian extremists can be.
