Keep the cat food away from the puppy. If the puppy is at least 6 weeks old, she should have no problem eating regular puppy food, but you can try different brands. Don't change it too much, just to get her to eat because that can make her finicky. Some dogs just don't eat that much, so don't force her. If she's healthy in all other ways, but is just being picky, she will eventually eat it. You might try getting her a canned food and mixing a little of that with her dry food to tempt her into eating it. If there are any other problems like vomiting, diarrhea, fever or if he's not very active, take him to your vet right away. The inappetance could just be a symptom of a more serious problem.

Perhaps she doesn't like the cat, therefore if she eats the cat food she will eliminate the cat and have your full attention!!!

Seriously thou she may not like the puppy food, when my dog was a puppy, we ha problems finding her a food she liked, she also had stomach problems so it was hit and miss for a while, but she got better as she got older and now eats anything.

Move the cats food out of her way, if she doesn't have a choice, she may well start eating her own food, she wont starve herself!!

I say like Lauren and Henry, a puppy should eat puppy food if he is old enough to do so. If he is not old enough, try introducing Pablum and then wetting puppy food if you should the dry food type. If your puppy is old enough and does not want puppy food, something is wrong and you should go see your vet. A healthy puppy will jump in his bowl in no time. If you have a puppy that is not playful, somewhat letargic, get help asap. Good luck.

No it is not good for him cats/kittens need a lot more protein and other minerals and vitamins than dogs do. Try mixing the kitten food and the puppy food, it could be he just likes the dish the dog is using, cats are fussy critters, it is part of what makes them so irresistible! Or you could try putting the puppy food in the kitty bowl and visa versa so you can se if it's the dish or the food.

I had a dog that loved cat food too. She lived 19 years. My advice is to try Purina puppy chow with mothers milk. My lab wouldn't eat anything until we got her that puppy chow. Now she refuses to eat anything else.
Good luck.

Puppies that eat cat food... hmmm. Let's see... I'm sure she'll be fine, but her breath will smell .
Try mixing some dog food with it.. increasing every few days.

are you sure you bought a dog instead of a cat?!?!

maybe he doesn't like the taste of dog food. i read from a magazine that you shouldn't give cat food to dogs because it has more fat content than dog foods, which makes your dog prone to weight problems,

trying changing dog food brand, its a start

Try others brands and/or a mixture of canned and dry. Or let dry food soak in milk for a few minutes before serving.
