I too am Pentecostal, but a different one. I am a four square Pentecostal. I was one who feared Satan and what he would do if I didn't follow god, but as far as prayers. He cant change your prayer unless you let him ( because if the fear that he will. (If you remove that thought from your mind, replace it with a positive thought like god or Jesus please hear my prayer, now one thing you must understand he wont answer all your prayers unless it follows the plan he has for you. you may get the answer that day or a week or longer so patients is also important when asking things of god and Jesus. as far as Satan, let your daughter learn, talk to someone who you feel will give you a answer without condemnation toward you. if they act that way when you ask, walk away and find some who wont do that to you. your religious denomination you choose may not be where you need to be. don’t be afraid to check out other denominations. don’t just take only the word of the pastor who speaks, write down the scripture and read the whole chapter. many denominations cut up the books in the bible to teach their own views. read it for yourself and make your decision for what you have read, pray about what is confusing. even if you don’t want your child to hear about Satan she will in a church or out of it. you just need to teach her as you read the bible. There is a message many use its WWJD (what would Jesus do) in reverse its DJWW (devil just wont win) this may help your fear of him from your prayers as you mentioned. Below is a web site bible you can download and access any time.
Not to make you upset, but Satan does exist he is mentioned in the American standard version of the bible 47 times (14 in the old testament and 33 times in the new testament) in KJV bible its in there 49 times total it not that he exists that should actually matter its how you live your life to prevent him from messing it up. With the blood of Jesus and the right life you must live Satan cannot attack you. The lord god will protect you. The teachings in your heart the understanding of his word are what matters most. i hope you find the answer. lord be with you and your little girl. in jesus name all things are possible.

From what I've seen, the devil is a huge part of Christianity. Certainly the way I was brought up was with god/satan as the carrot and the stick. God's nice to you if you're Christian, satan's nasty to you if you're not.
It's something that I was scared of, like you were, as a child. When I moved away from Christianity to follow my own path, letting go of the fear of satan and hell was the hardest thing for me.
I was brought up in a strictly Christian environment with little exposure to other religions and it definately caused problems for me which it took a while to get past. As a result of that, I think it's important for children to be taught about lots of different opinions and viewpoints. When she's old enough, if she's been educated properly, she'll be able to follow her heart to the belief system that's right for her, whether that is christianity or a different spiritual path.
I'm sure you'll make the right decision for yourself and your daughter because you're considering this really carefully, which is great! Good luck with your decision!

The concept of the devil was absorbed into Christianity by the early church to com-bate Paganism, the horned image of the devil was adopted from the Greek God Pan and the Pagan God of the animals.
The term Satan means adversary, so a personified imagery of the devil was created and accepted largely by people who love to abdicate responsibility for their own actions onto a mythical personality.
The psychological device that also conditions the fundamental mindset is the view that the devil himself forces individuals not to believe in him.
Is it justifiable? The fundamentalists would certainly denounce the devil as a concept negating the question, for most non conditioned minds the devil is a concept of explaining to a primitive people the difference between Godly and worldly behaviour, knowing the value of improper action to be diametrically opposed to achieving the objective of human life, which is love for God.

First of all, you should not continue to attend a church that teaches something you don't believe in unless you can be shown in the Bible that you are wrong about what you believe. Personally, I believe that Satan is real because the Bible records conversations that both Jesus and his father, God had with Satan. However, I agree with you that hell is a lie and a misinterpretation of illustrations that were given in the Bible. Definately don't teach your child lies if you think they are lies. If you teach her about Satan be sure to reassure her that God is much more powerful than Satan is. Try to find a church that agrees with your Bible and not your feelings.

Don't be confused. You don't have to have a fear of Satan either. God has given you authority over him. If you believe in the Bible, why not in Satan when he's talked about so much in it? Christ's sacrifice gave you victory if you'll just accept it. I believe it's very important to acknowledge that "The Evil One" exists, because otherwise it will be easier for him to attack your spiritual life. Depending on your daughter's age, you may not have to emphasize the danger so much yet. I don't like it when people try to scare you into being a Christian. But pray about it, and I suggest talking with a good minister.
God bless you and your daughter

i believe in God and believe in jesus ( although not in the same way as Christian )
but i do not believe in hell or satan
i suggest the same as one of the other answers
perhaps find a church/religion that is closer to your own beliefs
i try to teach my children about every religion .. and answer questions they have if i can
they do not belong to any .. but will make up their own mind one day what they wish to believe
so perhaps you could do that with your child ?

If the church that you're attending is (Bible) based......then you will be taught what the (Bible) says!....The (Bible) -Word Of GOD teaches about many things and one of the many things the (Bible) teaches about is "satan".(which stands for "evil"-
"wicked").......to answer your question: YES!....you should teach your child about satan so your child car be aware of "satans" devices, stratagies, tricks, and nature!........PS. talk to your Pastor/Minister about this so that he/she can instruct you based on the Word Of GOD!........religion is NOT Confusing once you Understand the Spiritual Insight Of Spiritual Things!........

You cannot teach about Jesus without also teaching about Satan as well...the devil is as much a part of the bible story, and is just as important to the story as Jesus is.
The bible is the word of God right? So why would you be afraid to share the word of God with your child? When your child is having nightmares about the devil, God will comfort him/her....right?
