My baby and my belly measured small my whole pregnancy and I delivered a healthy 5lb 14oz boy full term. Yes he was small but I am a small girl so take in account that you can measure off if you are not "average" size. They just do ultrasounds as a percautioary. If you are really nervous call your dr and just ask why. Dont feel wierd or funny about asking because that is what he is getting paid for. It is the health of your child and as a mother you have the right to know every reason they are doing things. I hope it all goes well for you.

Ask your doctor. If everything is OK with your measurements and there are no problems with your placenta, there really should be no reason for another ultrasound. A 7 lb baby is certainly no cause for concern. They only worry if the baby is suspected to be over 9 lbs. If your doctor says it's just routine and you don't want to have an unnecessary test then you have the right to say no to it.

It is routine at my doctors office to do an ultrasound at 38 weeks to check fluid levels and positioning. You might want to check if you are being billed for all these ultrasounds. My doctor is a specialist and renowned for her work and she says it is only imprtant to do ultrasounds at 8 weeks, 20 weeks, and 38 weeks, this may be a way for your doctor to make some extra money. On the bright side it is always nice to see your darling baby!

It may just be the doctor. I had the same dr for my first 3 and he only did 2 ultrasounds (and I heard that was more than usual) but the dr that I went to for my last baby gave me an ultrasound almost every other visit! After the 3rd baby was born in the ER by the attending OBGYN (who by the way became my new OBGYN for the 4th) and unexpectedly breech..... I never questioned a thing. Believe me.... better safe than sorry
BTW all 4 of my kids are fine and beautiful, but the ER drs thought I was going to lose my 3rd due to the circumstances of his birth - it was the attending OBGYN that reassured me he was going to be fine.... that was why I switched to her, she saved my baby and never had a doubt.

There is nothing wrong.
When i had my first baby they gave me 3 or 4 ultrasounds, and there were no complications in the pregnancy.
I had a set of twins as my second pregnancy and i had to have around 10 because they are typically concerned about twin's growth in the womb.
Dont worry
I'm sure everything's fine or he would have mentioned something.

There's no harm in having an ultrasound. It doesn't hurt you or the baby, so relax. Since you're so close to your due date (only five weeks), they probably just want to check your fluid levels. I wouldn't worry about it.
I'm 32 weeks pregnant right now and I'm scheduled for another ultrasound in two weeks. I love seeing my baby on the monitor!

Maybe they want to make sure the baby doesn't get too big. I would call your doctor and just ask why they want to do another ultrasound.

Maybe they are just being thorough. It could be that maybe you are measuring a little big and they are afraid that you will go into labor early. Sometimes they just don't say those things because they don't want to freak you out if it really isn't anything.

Maybe your doctor wants to make sure everything is fine he wants your baby as healthy as you want it so trust him if he feels he needs to do it for your baby's sake let him but if he said everything is alright he probably means it

They might also be checking for positioning.
