Unlike most members of my gender, I am not a real big beer drinker. American beer is absolute swill, and there are but a few decent imports, mostly ales and stouts. But whiskey, that is a real treat. It has so very many subtle nuances, and variations. For example, Canadian Club is a good solid nicely balanced whiskey, but when compared with something really nice, like Crown Royal, or exquisite, like Suntory Regal, it becomes a tad ordinary. Whiskey also has a wide range of family members. Scotch, Bourbon and moonshine are all whiskeys, and posses very different characteristics. In each case, the difference in quality between the garbage varieties and top shelf is dramatic. Compare say, Virginia Gentleman bourbon with Wild Turkey 101. It's like McDonald's vs Tony Lama's. And don't even get me started on Southern Comfort! There's a special place in hell reserved for the scoundrel that invented that swill.
Whiskey is an artistic repast for gentlemen of culture, taste and discrimination. Beer is a thirst quenching bellywash for the unwashed masses. If I'm really hot and thirsty, a cold Steinlager might do the trick. If I am in the company of my peers, enjoying cigars, conversation, and sophisticated entertainment, a Suntory Regal, simple, would be the ultimate accoutrement.

Both are an acquired taste. I'd argue that whisky takes longer to get used to than beer. Of course there are some really rough beers and some amazingly smooth whiskies out there.

I drank more than half my whiskey bottle last night. My friends laugh but I drink straigh out of the bottle and buy a new one every week. I can drink a bunch and not even get a heavy buzz.

BEER,BEER, And more BEER.......Whiskey stinking hangover, aggressive etc...BEER gets ugly birds laid, thats why it was invented 654 years ago as the birds then were total boilers, and the population was dropping dramatically. Now there is a artificial contraceptive in BEER, as although there are still boilers about the population is in check, after all, who would want to father a child to a boiler(it still happens)...ie Glasgow Rangers fans

My husband said it depends on his mood. But he also said he thinks the average guy would go for a beer because it's cheaper. Does that mean my husband is not average?
