I agree with Medic1234, stick with things that you'll see on the truck. CHF is always good. I see a lot of CVA's and MI's in my area along with multi trauma MVC's and i work for a county service that is >50 miles from the nearest Lvl 1or 2 trauma center. We use helocopters a whole lot. Discuss how you would decide the mode of transport as well as your treatment and what hospital would be best suited for your particular patient.

Depends on how far along you are in medic school. If it is the beginning I would do something interesting but not complicated such as Munchausen syndrome (we get a lot of those) or Anaphylaxis. If you are near the end think of something a little more complicated possibly involving cardiology like Torsades de pointes or maybe something like Hypothyroidism.

Whatever it is do some research so you know if you can make the paper long enough. Some things can be covered (at a paramedic level) in about 2 paragraphs.

(If you end up being the only one in your class who understands what WPW syndrome is, then you are the only one qualified to take the tests)

Wolf Parkinson's White: It's a hard subject to find material for, but you will be glad you did it when you are the only one in your class who truly understands the disorder.

High Altitude Illness: That's a good one and it's easier to find info on.

Coronary Artery Disease: That would be a good one, and you will see lots of patients with a hx of the disease, so it's a good idea to know the pathology behind it.

Congestive Heart Failure: That would be another good one that you will see a lot.

Asthma: That'd be an easy subject to learn about, and you will be able to find lots of info on it.

I would stick with things you're likely to see in the field. CHF, COPD, something like that. If you haven't already done it, the Krebs cycle is another good one, although that isn't a disease of course.
