What specifically do you want to know about naps? Are you wondering about the length of naptimes, the spacing between nap beds, how many children in the room at one time with how many caregivers....? Any policies that may be written on this will be in your states' licensing information. Look up your state's Department of Education website, and look into licensing laws. It will give you specifics. In California, the children have to have certain accommodations, such as a two-and-a-half hour time period to take a nap during, they have to be able to get up when they are done, there should be at least 24 inches of space between nap beds, which should be laid out alternating head to toe. Another great reference you can look at for protocols is the NAEYC handbook. They have the highest standard of care for preschools.

I am a licensed home daycare provider in Michigan. We have a rule book called Licensing Rules for Family and Group Child Care Homes. It is published by the State of Michigan Department of Human Services. The website for us is www.michigan.gov/dhs. Give www.ohio/gov/dhs a try and see if you can locate the rules there. For me, naps are covered under R 400.1914 Daily Activity Program. "(g) Rest or sleep or both" is listed under what is to be included for each child in the child care setting. Each child is different and we are allowed to arrange sleep and nap schedules as we see appropriate. At my daycare home, I provide nap and and rest time for all the children at some point during the day depending on their ages and when they are dropped off and picked up and with regard to their parents' wishes.

was not aware that it was a law or could be one... it is up to the parents to survey their child to determine if one is needed or not..as far as day cares go its break time for the workers..
