Today, at the very last possible second, my homecoming date informed me he's not going. HE asked ME, and he knew for about a week he probably wasn't going to go, but promised me he would. I gave him many chances to bow out, chances he never took advantage of, so now I'm what I believe to be justifiably pissed. Every boy I've talked to has said I shouldn't be upset, but most girls are appalled. Am I right to be angry with him for ditching me, or should I forgive him?

I'd be pissed. This isn't a date for the movies - it's a major annual event. You have the right to be angry, especially since he knew he wouldn't be going for a week! There is no excuse to be that inconsiderate. I would forgive him, eventually, but I'd never give him the chance to do something like that to me again. I hope you can find another date!

if he knew for weeks then, i would be mad at him for not telling me and it's a big event. you probably won't be able to get another date since it was last minute. however, i guess that from the guy's point of view, he might have wanted to go with you but found out he couldn't and just didn't have the guts until now to tell you, but that's just a guess so i might be wrong. as for if you have the right to be angry at him i believe that you do have the right to be at least disappointed and mad (most people's reactions) and you'll probably forgive him over time (you'll see that it wasn't really THAT important compared to other things in you're life and forgive him, i mean life goes on, right?).

You should forgive him because he might have something really important, but at least he could of told you since he knew he was not going to go. Just forgive him and find someone else to go to the homecoming. If i knew u in person i would take u to that homecoming.

Yes you have a right to be pissed off. How inconsiderate can he get. It takes a lot of work to get ready for homecoming, hair, makeup the right dress. About the only excuse that would be acceptable is a death in the family or he needed surgery that day.

He is rude and isn't respecting his commitment to you, even if it was only for a few hours. He is exhibiting that he is not trustworthy. I would say you absolutely have the right to be angry. But you might also want to be grateful that this jerk is no longer your companion for those hours. You deserve so much better!

You should assume that he will behave this way all the time.

Actually, I'll promise you he will continue to behave in this way.

Is that okay with you? No right or wrong - but wouldn't you rather be happy than not happy?

Of course you have a right to be angry. The jerk left you high and dry.
He should be ashamed of himself.
