Anyone else think Rockstar energy drinks taste like cough medicine?

I have had a review written for this for quite some time now, but never published it. I had written the review a while after downing a can so I never felt to confident in the way I described the flavor…I decided to hold off till I purchased another can so that I could write a review in my usual style…while actually trying the product. Much like the case with Red Rave, my memory of the taste was quite far off from the truth….must be getting old or something.

Cough medicine…..that all I could think off at first…that cherry stuff that I really despise. Luckily, that flavor gets adapted out rather quickly (though not completely) and the drink becomes far more bearable. From then on out it’s a flavor that is kind of hard to describe….it seems to be the typical RB base with a bit of something extra….something candyish if you will. It’s not exactly smooth (not initially at least), definitely artificial, and strangely metallic…still, it’s really not at all as bad as it sounds. When Rockstar is served chilled (and I mean on ice, not just in a cold can) it’s FAR better than when it comes off the shelf in your local convenience store…let it get warm and things start going bad. What I find really strange through out all this is that there really is not much of an after taste. Usually drinks like this have a really strong, and not so pleasant after taste…not here. Rockstar cleans up quite nicely, and as I said before, after a few drinks the whole beverage becomes much better, less harsh, and a bit smoother than when you first opened the can. Probably the BEST way to drink Rockstar however, is mixed with alcohol…this is a much better mixer with vodka than Red Bull. Adding a shot or so to a glass of Rockstar really balances everything out, and the fact that the can is a 16oz’er gives you twice the bang for the buck.

The Power of Rockstar is the key to everything. It works fast, last a long time, and comes on strong. The tagline on the can is “party like a rockstar”, but not once did I smash a hotel room, have sex with 2 midgets and a hooker, or get the urge to insert any chemical, or foreign object into my body…..instead, I had energy…lots of freakin energy. Half a can gave me a noticeably higher boost than a can of Red Bull, so add another dose to that, drink it all fast and you can imagine the rush. The kick is hard hitting and I did get a bit jittery, but for a party drink, that’s not really a downside. Overall I’d say the power will not disappoint….if you need a late night energy boost, this is definitely a good choice…especially as a mixer.

I have to say, that while the flavor is nothing special at all, and there are other things out there I’d prefer to drink, the power in Rockstar really makes it one to keep in mind when picking your poison so to speak…..not to mention the fact that if you are already half *** drunk, who cares how good or bad it tastes…the stuff works!

capability drink: don't have a fave deodorant: degree lady (it smells quite solid!) action picture: huge - that is going to continually be my popular. So romantic! cough medicine: none... I ensue to hate medicine... :)
