check the baby - is he sick? does he need a change? is he full? does he seem to be in pain? take him to a doctor to make sure he's healthy and not suffering from anything that wakes him up at night - also, how much is he sleeping during the day? Once the doctor okays this, you can check him, if he's okay, tell him you love him and leave him in his crib. This may take about a week, but once he's trained, it will rock!! Also if you can't sleep, ask someone to watch him at least one night a week for you so you can sleep all night. Maybe some Melatonin or Tylenol PM would help you on those nights? Check with YOUR doctor too. Mommy burnout isn't good for you or the baby! I have tons of kids. Trust.

I have the exact same problem. I'm so tired but I can't sleep. It occurs to me most of the time. It's like I'm soo tired and I keep yawning and yawning but when I closed my eyes and force myself to sleep, I end up turning here and there. And the next day in school, I'm tired. It's really irritating. I think maybe because I'm stress. We should have the habbit of going to bed the same time and wake up the same time everyday. You can try exercising. Sometimes when I exercise during the day, at night I'm really tired and when I lay on my bed I just fell asleep. My friend suggest that I drink a glass of warm milk before going to bed. You could try reading a book until your eyes are tired or listen to a soothing song over and over again until you feel like sleeping. That's what I did.

If you are not nursing him, ask a trusted family member or friend to watch him so you can get several hours of uninterupted sleep. Or take advantage of the "mother's day out" programs that some churches have.

If you are nursing, then take the opportunity to take a nap every time he sleeps, and don't feel guilty about not getting "other stuff" done. You need to take care of yourself. Obviously, you know this or you wouldn't have asked the question. =)

Just remember that this, too, shall pass. Hang in there.

nap during the day when the baby sleeps, or ask someone you trust to keep an eye on her for a couple of hours while you nap. this will help and remember this to will pass with time.

It is time to talk to your doctor, there is no reason to suffer from something so easy to treat as insomnia, give them a call.

There are now many treatment options which are non-addictive and allow you to be refreshed in the morning - not groggy.
