Sure he did, either that or some of his disciples were idiots, and it may have been a good bit of both. The Gospel of Mark gives oodles of examples of their just not getting it. (Mark 4:13, 8:17-21 is good) In John 3, Nicodemas gets chewed out, "Are you a teacher in Israel and do not know these things?"

Of course he did, he was only human (to your insinuation question) but he didn't act on it.
And yes, as a Teacher, many times his followers did not understand what he was talking about, how could they, he was born with wisdom and they had to learn it to your "other question."

Yes he did speak in verses difficult to understand for the laymen of his time and for people of this time.
