In a nutshell, you will be developing and deploying various projects designed to "mentally defeat" the enemy.
Examples:
In Panama, PsyOps units surrounded Noriega's hiding place with speakers and blasted loud music at him, hoping to get him to give up.
In Vietnam, Korea, World War II and the Gulf wars leaflets were dropped by aircraft urging enemy combatants to surrender and avoid getting killed by US forces.
There are also operations to plant misleading or outright false stories in newspapers, websites, etc. to further weaken the enemies resolve, or, raise morale on our side (or our allies).
Depending on how much college you have, and your experience and class load you took, you could come in and apply for OCS (Officers Candidate School).
Good luck!

Vanessa, it really depends weather or not you will be enlisting as an officer or an enlisted person. regardless however, this field will put you up against a variety of thrilling situations if you like to help people with post traumatic stress disorder, seperation anxiety and/or those with a "death wish" that become a threat to their own team. patience is important, but even more so, the ability to be very observant and see through the lies you will be told constantly so perfectly good men and woman can be discharged or put on light duty for a false diagnosis. good luck, and thank you for your decision to Join the largest and most powerful employer in the civilized world. hooraahh

This is basically a PR person gone bad. Really. Psychological Ops is bring the bad guys in with out fighting. Broadcasting information, obtaining information (interrogation), getting into the minds of the enemy to try and figure out how they operate, so that fewer of our guys get killed.
Don't go in with just ONE job in mind. If you don't qualify for it, or the school isn't open when you to ship, you need to have a backup plan.
Thanks for thinking of us, and good luck.

can't say as i have any experience in psyops... but i DO know that specialist schwartz, aka skippy, was in that field. Skippy's list might show you a bit of the more casual side of the military, though it really can't tell you much about the psy op field.
as to psyops people i know, they do ALOT of flyers and posters, both in favor of our actions and against enemy actions.
