Yes, it is possible to fall in love with a person you met over the Internet. My wife and I met twelve years ago online. We were eighteen and both away at college. The public internet was still fairly new and we both had Prodigy (precurser to AOL). We met on bulletin boards on Prodigy and she happened to be going to college in my hometown (while I was out of town at another school - but that was how we started talking because I knew the area she was going to school in) We started talking a lot (but both had repsective significant others. After five months of talking back and forth, we finally met and it was fantastic. She was everything I hoped for. After we met, we both ended our other relationships and started seeing each other. It was a long distance relationship (2.5 hours) and sometimes it was a struggle but here we are 12 years later. Been married almost 6 years.
It can happen. Does it happen often? I don't know. Is it always safe. Probably not. You have to pretty confident about what you are getting in to and be willing to take responsibility for your actions, no matter what the result. It's a gamble, but it could pay off in the end.

I met my first love here. But she became the person of my nightmares (kiddin) :P.. Ya it's possible, but a disproportionate number of people using the web for this purpose are mentally ill. They're using this means for a reason. So you'll have to sift through many people.
P.S. I recommend actually meeting in person in a safe way, fairly soon. Otherwise things sort of spin into a realm of fantasy and the first meet up can be grating. And don't waste time with somebody overseas, unless ... you want to waste time on a 1000 to one gamble..

Well i found my true love from the internet. We met after talking online 2 yrs ago. When we met we still felt the same for eachother as we did chatting online and being on cam together. He came and moved in with me a week after we met face to face and we been living together ever since. So yes you can fall in love over the internet!!!! Dont listen to all these people who say you cant,,i know plenty of people who have and moved to be with them.

Some people find the person of their dreams online. I think you really have to meet a person physically to know if they are the ONE.

You're a dreamer, and headed for trouble.
No, you can't.
You can get carried away in lust, or any number of things, but you have to know someone personally to be in love.
