Sure you can confess your sins to someone else, but the thing is God is the only one that can forgive your sins and Him alone. While it may be nice and healing to confide in someone for understanding and help, the sin remains until God removes it.

I am not a religon guru, however, I have strong faith. I believe there is only one God and I do not worship other "idols."
However, We confess our sins to all, by apologizing, going to "confession," and admiting our wrongs. I don't know if it says in the bible anywhere, but I feel talking about your "sins" helps to make you feel better!

James 5:16
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness
there is great value in a relationship where you can be accountable to another believer. actually vocalizing your sins helps you recognize them. Just make sure the one who you share these things with is trustworthy.
you don't have to go to a priest and have him go to God with your requests for forgiveness
1 Timothy 2:5

It doesn't.
"Therefore, make it your habit to confess your sins to one another and to pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." (James 5:16)

I thought he only wanted praise and faith. Pray to him only. It always sounded to me like you were to just confess them and whoever was there could just listen in.
