You are bang on target. When you save, it is just the "Project" and not the movie itself. So you have to do "Save movie file" Or use the "3. Finish Movie" options in the "Movie Tasks" list.

Generate an AVI file with the DVD format and then you can convert into VOB format. Here is the steps I use to get the DVD movie

1. Generate AVI file using WindowsMM
2. Convert into VOB file use Xilisoft Video Convertor
3. Use DVD Lab Pro to author the menus and stuff
4. generate the DVD files in DVD lab pro.
5. Use Nero to burn it into the DVD.

This gives me total control on the stuff I put and also add subtitles, and also those funny stuff in the home video... like drawing crowns or horns etc....

Hope this helps.
