i hate the way doctors and other people go on about us being different, you can't use a chart 2 refer against, eg: im 14.5 stone (which my doctor thinks is heavy), im just shy of 6 foot and have a naturally big build (i was never ment 2 be super skiny). isnt it wrong?

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

What a dull, boring world it would be if we were all uniformally NORMAL, any way I think for a man of your height anything between 12 stone and 14.7 is fine. It depends where the weight is. If it is all around the middle ,that's not good, but if it is evenly spread about that's OK, if you are fit why worry ???

Most of those charts are based on BMI (Body Mass Index) and take no account of build, bone structure etc. I am the same height and only slightly less heavy and my Doctor says I am fine.

What matters is if you're healthy or not. Having a slightly bigger build than what's considered "normal" (I hate that word) is fine as long as things such as blood pressure, bad cholesterol, resting heart rate, etc are within a healthy range.

I think you're totally right. I don't know how heavy and stone is but as long as your healthy and happy don't worry about what your dr.s chart says

normal is the human need to lump everything into a catagory. i know people who are called normal in weight and have high blood pressure, diabetes, and numerous other health problems. i also know people who are considered morbidly obese who are perfectly healthy. i am no where near considered normal in my thoughts and the way i react to my world. i'm happy with that. i watch "normal" people, they arent happy, why should i be like them?!?!?!

May be your Dr was concerned about your weight,as this is no good for your health or your heart, but you are not really over weight for your height,so why not go back and ask him what he meant!!!
