BUT i do not believe in A god. i like to help others and be here for others.I dont expect a thing in return.BUT christians do in my oppionion? what says you all ? are you a good person. is it cos of your upbringing or GODS UPBRINGING OF YOU?

It's strange how many theists seriously suggest that you can not be good without a belief in a diety, as if a sense of morality is linked to a lack of critical thinking!
Richard Dawkins said something profound; Good people will do good things, Bad people will do bad things. But to make a good person do bad things takes religion.

you give of yourself when you are able, and expect nothing in return, you don't have to be religious to think that is the way to live your life. Just carry on being a good person, that's all you need. Let others have their beliefs as long as theyre not hurting you and you arent hurting them. Youre an individual, a gem, not a part of a tree of faith. Be yourself and nobodys fool.

According to yur words you are living as if you are already devoted so what's missing except your communication to God?
If you don't believe that there's a GOD try asking yourself those questions:
-What after this life?
-Am I like the lady bug that has no afterlife?
-What if it was true?
-Where did man's brain come from?
-Can it be that good people like me end up like those terrorists?Or there must be a punishment?

I know that anyone who places thei faith in our Lord Creator God and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ His only begotten son, then you shall be delivered from death and given eternal life.
You are only good in the eyes of God if you keep the word of His book, the Bible, and are truly repentant of your sins, and ask for forgiveness, then you shall be cleansed and be 'good'.
Christians only ask that God guides them and that others may be saved through their intervention and turn to God in praise. We don't expect magic or things to appear from mowhere like some sort of genie. That is not the Christian way.
As for your brother saying that you are good, ask yourself- have you ALWAYS followed the Commandments andd Gods word? I have yet to meet one person who has and can prove it!
But God is forgiving....

I don't believe in a god, as long as you treat others the way you'd like them to treat you then you can't go far wrong.

I'm obviously not good b/c of a fear of god b/c I'm an atheist. There are many non-religious (esp. non xian) countries with plenty of good people.

you are wrong we are so not good we are all sinners, difference is we accept that Jesus has been crucified so our sins can be forgiven, we are not perfect at all, nothing to do with upbringing, tradition, religion, simple we accept his sacrifice.
