"The grapefruit got its name from the way it grows in clusters (like grapes) on the tree. There is no mistaking a grapefruit tree - they are large with glossy dark green leaves and the fruit hangs in clusters on the tree. Grapefruit trees are beautiful."

Just as a side line to Tiramysu, the grapefruit ariginated in Barbados and is believed to have been a cross - naturally - between a Shadock and a sweet orange.
When George Washington visited Barbados - the only place he visited outside the US - with his brother, who was ailing and thought Barbados' climate would help him - he took back with him some grapefruit and thus it was introduced to the US. The rest is history as they would say.
